DFL confirm details for 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund
The DFL Executive Committee has confirmed that the next Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, due to take place on 22 August at 8:30pm CEST, will be held in Dortmund. Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund will host double winners Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park, with ticketing for the match, as usual, handled by the home club.
By naming the Supercup after Franz Beckenbauer, who passed away in January 2024, the DFL and the DFB are jointly honouring his contributions to German football. As one of the first sporting highlights of the new season, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup traditionally features the German champions and the DFB Cup winners and is usually broadcast in around 200 FIFA member countries.
Since Bayern secured both the Bundesliga title and the DFB Cup in the past season, this year’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup will, for the first time since 2021, see them face second-place in the league, Dortmund.

As already announced when the calendar for the 2026-27 season was published in November 2025, the first-round matches of the DFB Cup (21–24 August 2026) involving both Supercup participants have been scheduled for 1 and 2 September 2026.
