A dominant performance from Bayern Munich saw them cruise to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach, with goals from Luis Díaz, Konrad Laimer, Jamal Musiala and Nicolas Jackson sealing the points at the Allianz Arena. Meanwhile, Wael Mohya's consolation strike saw him become Gladbach's youngest-ever goalscorer.

Bayern entered the match in fine form, having just beaten Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 11 points. Despite missing talisman Harry Kane through a calf injury, Vincent Kompany's side were looking to continue their march towards the Bundesliga title and more records.

In one of seven changes for the hosts, Manuel Neuer returned in goal after a brief injury layoff, while Nicolas Jackson was given the task of leading the line in Kane's absence.

For the visitors, Eugen Polanski's Gladbach had recently ended a seven-match winless run with a victory over Union Berlin, but faced a daunting task at the Allianz Arena.

Díaz and Laimer put Bayern in control

Bayern dominated possession from the outset but initially struggled to break down a resolute Gladbach defence. Lennart Karl thought he'd opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a beautifully disguised pass from Leon Goretzka, but his crisp finish was correctly ruled out for a narrow offside.

The hosts continued to press forward, with Karl and Goretzka both seeing efforts saved by Moritz Nicolas.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 33rd minute when Goretzka received the ball on the edge of the area and deftly chipped it through the Gladbach defence for Luis Díaz, who volleyed home first-time to make it 1-0.

Bayern doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time through a clinical counter-attack. Konrad Laimer won possession in his own half before finding Jackson. The striker then burst forward and played the ball to Díaz, who squared for the onrushing Laimer to hammer home.

Red card and penalty end Gladbach resistance

Bayern were forced into a half-time change as Jonas Urbig replaced Neuer in goal in what was likely a recurrence of his recent injury.

In the 55th minute. Jackson burst into the box and was fouled by Rocco Reitz, resulting in a penalty for Bayern and a red card for the Gladbach midfielder. Jamal Musiala stepped up to convert the spot-kick for his first Bundesliga goal since returning from injury, effectively ending the contest at 3-0.

With the numerical advantage, Bayern controlled proceedings completely, making a triple substitution just after the hour mark to give minutes to young talent Maycon Douglas Cardozo, who was making his professional debut.

Bayern extend lead as Mohya makes history

The hosts continued to dominate against the ten men of Gladbach, creating several chances before adding a fourth goal in the 79th minute. Karl found space on the right and delivered a precise low cross that Jackson volleyed home via the inside of the post.

Despite the comfortable scoreline, there was still time for a moment of history for the visitors. In the 89th minute, 17-year-old Wael Mohya, who had only been introduced five minutes earlier, netted a consolation goal after Fabio Chiarodia's initial effort struck the post. The goal was little more than a footnote in Bayern's dominant victory, but it did give Mohya the distinction of becoming Gladbach's youngest-ever goalscorer.

Man of the Match: Jamal Musiala

Musiala was voted Man of the Match after an influential performance in Bayern's comfortable victory. The 23-year-old successfully converted his first-ever Bundesliga penalty to put the game beyond doubt and was a constant threat throughout.

The statistics highlight his all-around contribution – he won 15 challenges (the most of any player), reached a top speed of 33.64 km/h (second only to Franck Honorat), and was the most pressed player in the match, facing pressure 31 times.

Musiala's goal was particularly significant as it marked his first Bundesliga strike since returning from the serious injury he suffered at the Club World Cup. His performance demonstrated why he remains such a crucial part of Vincent Kompany's title-chasing side.
