Augsburg sign South Korea's Seol Young-woo from Red Star Belgrade

Augsburg have completed the signing of Youngwoo Seol from Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade.

South Korea international Seol has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Augsburg and will join up with the squad immediately.

Upon the announcement, sporting director Benni Weber said, "Youngwoo bring international experience to Augsburg through European club competitions and the national team. His flexility on the wing and his high speed will give our game added impulse and competition out wide in our squad."

Additionally, Seol said, "I'm really looking forward to my time at Augsburg. The Bundesliga is a great and demanding league in which I want to prove myself and develop further. I can hardly wait to play in front of our fans and work hard with the team for our goals."

Seol started his career at Ulsan HD in his homeland, making 156 appearances in all competitions across four years, winning the K League twice as well as the Asian Champions League once. In 2024, he made the switch to Red Star, featuring 101 times while claiming two Serbian Super League titles and two Serbian Cups. A 37-time international, he started all three of his South Korea's matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Seol becomes the fourth South Korean to play for Augsburg after Ja-Cheol Koo, Dong-Won Ji und Jeong-Ho Hong.

After kicking off their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Energie Cottbus in the first round of the DFB Cup last weekend, Manuel Baum's men will begin their Bundesliga term against Schalke on Sunday (kick-off: 5.30pm CEST).
