With his brace against Union Berlin, Andrej Kramarić, Hoffenheim’s all-time record goalscorer, surpassed Bayern Munich legend Giovane Élber in the all-time goalscoring charts for foreign players in the Bundesliga.

After getting off to a flying start to 2026 with a hat-trick in a 5-1 thrashing of Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 17, Kramarić was back among the goals on Matchday 20 with a quickfire, first-half double for the Sinsheimers as they saw off Union Berlin 3-1.

The Croatian converted a penalty in the 42nd minute before adding another via a sublime header on the end of a Bazoumana Toure cross not three minutes later.

Not only do these two strikes mark Kramarić's seventh and eighth goals of the 2025/26 term - taking him up to joint-sixth in the league-wide charts - but they also represented the 34-year-old's 133rd and 134th career Bundesliga goals.

Now, Kramarić was already Hoffenheim's all-time record top goalscorer prior to these strikes, but moving up to goal number 134 means that the Croatian has now surpassed Giovane Élber (133) as the third-highest foreign goalscorer in Bundesliga history. Only Claudio Pizarro (197) and Robert Lewandowski (312) have scored more. Not bad company to keep!

Additionally, Kramarić has the highest career goal tally of any active player in the German top flight. Speaking after the game, Hoffenheim's No.27 wasn't concerned by his individual milestone. Instead, he was quick to credit his teammates for his success.

“I honestly believe this is the best squad we’ve had in Hoffenheim over the last ten years. It’s a top team, with real quality, lots of potential, many young players and many with experience. It’s the perfect mix,” the 34-year-old admitted.

Spearheaded by the Croatian, Hoffenheim have enjoyed a perfect start to 2026, winning all five of their opening Bundesliga encounters of the new year with their dreams of UEFA Champions League qualification next year becoming ever realer week on week.

Reflecting on his side's performance against Union and how well they have begun the Rückrunde, Kramarić revealed: “I’m very satisfied, everything is running perfectly, we’re playing top-level football. It wasn’t easy to get into the duels against Union, but in the end we had a bit of luck - and once again we showed the kind of football this team is playing this year.”

Next up is a huge test of Hoffenheim's credentials as UEFA Champions Leauge hopefuls, however, as Christian Ilzer's travel to the Allianz Arena on Matchday 21 to take on league-leaders and reigning champions, Bayern Munich.
