Full-time: Wolfsburg 0-1 Heidenheim

A big, big victory for relegation strugglers Heidenheim, who leapfrog Bochum into the relegation play-off spot as a result. Marvin Pieringer's first-half penalty settled a contest in which Wolfsburg largely disappointed. Next up for the today's winners? Leverkusen, Frankfurt, Bayern and Stuttgart, in that order. But for now, coach Frank Schmidt can celebrate his 700th game in charge of Heidenheim with a precious win.

Schmidt's view on Wolfsburg

"Ralph Hasenhüttl took over a team about a year ago that was still fighting to avoid relegation, and a year later, they can qualify for Europe. He's managed to develop this team into a team that's willing to work their socks off. You see that in every game. Nevertheless, we saw in the last two home games, against Bochum and St. Pauli, that we're capable of something."

700 up for Mr Heidenheim

The encounter in Wolfsburg will be the 700th match Frank Schmidt has coached Heidenheim in since taking over way back in September 2007 - with the club in the fifth tier of German football at the time.
camera-photo

Hasenhüttl's view on Heidenheim

"We had a decent game against them in the reverse fixture. The difference now is that Heidenheim aren't in the UEFA Conference League anymore, so in recent games they've played better and with more energy. It’ll be an intensive game for us against a team fighting for survival. For us it’s an opportunity to get back into European contention."
