xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
The hosts apply a bit of pressure for the first time in quite a while. They have threatened very little today, but one hope for them is that they have scored four second-half goals already this season.

Schmidt on facing Pauli

"The Millerntor is a special location, a sell-out crowd, a great atmosphere and a club that deserved to be promoted and continuously improved under Fabian Hürzeler. Last season, they were the absolute top team in the second division. A team that is variable in its build-up play. A team that constantly tries to play through the centre and looks for a quick ball up top after winning the ball."

Blessin on facing Heidenheim

“The start of the Bundesliga is something special. I’d be lying if I said no. It’s growing from day to day, probably will again tomorrow and then I’m interested to see what it will be like the night before the game. But I think we’re very well prepared, so I’m looking ahead to the game with confidence."

It wasn't just pre-season either, Heidenheim kicked their competitive season off with another big win - this time 4-0 against Villingen in the first round of the DFB Cup.

Goals, goals and more goals at Heidenheim

Heidenheim may not have faced the toughest competition in pre-season, but the confidence boost was considerable. Winning all seven of their preparation games, they scored 45 goals and conceded just three.

Positive Pauli pre-season

Big changes at Pauli

Pauli had a tricky start to life in the Bundesliga by losing 31-year-old coaching phenomenon Fabian Hürzeler, but they've since replaced him with Alexander Blessin. Top scorer Marcel Hartel also left for MLS, but there have been some interesting incomings. Talented full-back Fin Stevens arrived from Brentford, while Morgan Guilavogui comes in to bolster things up front.

A tricky summer for Heidenheim

Three of the key men from Heidenheim's 2023/24 heroics have departed. Winger Jan-Niklas Beste left for Benfica, top scorer Tim Kleindienst headed to Gladbach and Nikola Dovedan to Karagümrük.
