Bochum score again!

Diogo Leite mistimes a tackle on Broschinski, giving Stöger the chance to extend from the spot. He makes no mistake to surely secure the three points for the hosts!

Bochum two to the good!

Bochum have been on top of this one, and they have now extended their advantage! Union were on the attack moments before, but a quick break finds Paciência. He doesn't quite catch it properly, but it nestles into the corner!

Half-time: Bochum 1-0 Union Berlin

Right on the stroke of half-time, the hosts move in front through Takumi Asano's volley. These two sides find themselves at the wrong end of the table, making it a proverbial six-pointer, and Bochum are in pole position at the moment. Plenty of time left for that to change though!

Bochum ahead!

The hosts have been the better of the two sides so far, and they now have the lead on the brink of half-time. Asano is the goalscorer, volleying home with aplomb following a corner - he connected well with that one!

A great chance early on for the hosts, as Stöger misses the target with a free header from a central position in the penalty area. Warning sign for Union.

Bjelica's view on Bochum

"We'll have to adapt to Bochum's style of play, in order to take something away with us. If we do that, we have a good chance of winning. VfL are an aggressive opponent, play with a lot of pressing and always have their fans behind them. We have to adapt to that."

Letsch's view on Union

Union's last game was against Real Madrid. That says a lot about what's happened there in the last year. They've had some issues this year and often lost by narrow margins. There were some really right ones where they might've won last year. But still, we're ahead of Union in the table and want to remain ahead. Union haven't had many games under their new coach. Nenad Bjelica's approach is different from that of Urs Fischer, maybe more focused on possession. You can't forget the team is basically the same. There's always an unknown when there's a new coach. They played with a back four against Gladbach and attacked well but then a three against Real Madrid with a more defensive approach. Both are possible. We're prepared."
