FOALS GALLOP ON

Game over in Gladbach. The hosts are up to sixth position after what was a pretty one-sided affair. A couple of Jonas Hofmann goals had the hosts purring in the first half while while Ramy Bensebaini's tasty finish in the second put the game to bed. Leipzig and Marco Rose have work to do.

NO GO, THURAM

Thuram goes down with Raum in close proximity. Up you get, the ref says to the Foals' forward. Nothing doing there.
75'

ROSE DEEP IN THOUGHT

A penny for Marco Rose's thoughts, eh? The visiting coach is looking very pensive on that bench right now. A sweet 3-0 win against his former side Dortmund last week and now 3-0 down at Gladbach. The 46-year-old has plenty of work to do but Leipzig remain one of the division's big talents and will no doubt bounce back from this.

So, that's two goals for Bensebaini this term. The full back has never enjoyed a better start to a Bundesliga campaign in terms of scoring. Hats off to Stindl too after his first assist of the campaign.

IT'S ALMOST TIME

Borussia-Park is ROCKING ! We're blessed with a truly superb atmosphere ahead of this Matchday 7 game in North Rhine-Westphalia. The players are in the tunnel. Not long to go now!

CORNERS KEY?

Interestingly, today's hosts are the division's corner specialists, generating a league-high of dangerous moments that averages some 74% better than the rest. Leipzig, meanwhile, are down the standings (16th) in defending corners so watch this particular space in terms of the Foals' goal prospects.

SOMMER IN SEASON

Gladbach will, of course, be expected to make the pace in this game but who wouldn't look forward to a battle between one of the Bundesliga's best 'keepers, Yann Sommer, and that Leipzig attack. Expect excitement!

TEAM NEWS - LEIPZIG

Leipzig coach Rose has made four changes to the side that lost out to Real Madrid during the week. Werner, Schlager, Simakan and Diallo are replaced by Silva, Kampl, Henrichs and Gvardiol for the visitors.

TEAM NEWS - GLADBACH

The Foals have made one change to the team that drew with Freiburg last week, with Elvedi replacing the injured Neuhaus. Elvedi will drop into the back for for Kramer, who'll resume his more familiar position in central midfield.

ROSE: "PUT IN A COMPLETE PERFORMANCE"

Rose also echoed Farke's sentiments - the two coaches have never met but had warm words for each other - insisting Leipzig will need an impressive all-round showing to take the three points: "We want to put in a complete performance, and win the ball back quickly when we lose possession. Gladbach are good at making their opponents run around a lot, to create space. It will be similar to what we faced against Dortmund and Real Madrid. We did some good things in those games and we're confident we can do the same again on Saturday. But it's not just about chasing the ball, we also want to make use of it ourselves. That's why it will be an exciting game."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: LEIPZIG

Leipzig coach Marco Rose spent two seasons in charge of Gladbach (2019-21), winning just under half of his 88 competitive games in charge. He looks back on his time at the Borussia-Park with fondness: "It was a good time for me personally. I got to know some great people, the team qualified for the Champions League, Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus played for the national team for the first time when I was their coach. Things were moving in the right direction. But there was also the last six-month period where things didn't go so well. In the end we missed out on playing in Europe by one goal and came eighth. But I'm still in contact with a lot of people from the region and the club, players and staff. All in all, it was a very beautiful time."

FARKE: "WE HAVE TO DICTATE THE TEMPO OF THE GAME"

The Gladbach boss also touched on his game plan for Saturday: "We will need a sophisticated team performance. We can't afford to give the ball away too easily, because Leipzig are incredibly dangerous and fast on the counter. We will have to respond well to how they attack in deep areas, but we have to be dominant ourselves and dictate the tempo of the game, just like we did in the first half against Freiburg. Our finishing also needs to be more clinical, as you don’t get that many clear-cut chances against the top teams."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: GLADBACH

Here's what Mönchengladbach coach Daniel Farke had to say about Leipzig in his pre-game press conference: "We're not a team competing at the very top level like RB Leipzig, but we still want to go toe-to-toe with our opponents on Saturday. When your fans are behind you, anything is possible in 90 minutes, especially as we’re in good shape. We will go into the match with the necessary respect. We’re looking forward to the challenge and we want to pick up points."

THE SEASON SO FAR

Eighth-placed Gladbach are winless in three, though they have taken points off Bayern Munich and Freiburg in that time. Those draws sandwich their only defeat of the campaign - a 1-0 home loss to Mainz. The Foals have also beaten Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin, whilst drawing with promoted Schalke. Leipzig took five points from the first 15 on offer, before parting ways with head coach Domenico Tedesco. Rose's triumphant debut marked only their second win of the Bundesliga season, and lifted them up to 10th in the standings.
