GLADBACH GO TOP !

Game over at Borussia-Park where a Plea penalty is enough for the hosts to earn their second win of the season. That's seven points from three games for Gladbach, who take provisional pole in the standings following a solid start to the campaign under new coach Farke. Hofmann's second half penalty miss proved a mere annoyance for the victorious hosts. Hertha, meanwhile, await their first win of the new Bundesliga season.

HERTHA RELIEF

Hofmann looks like he's broken the offside trap and lifts a lovely finish over Christensen, who had come way off his line. To the 'keeper's relief, the Gladbach man had not, indeed, broken the offside trap.

WATCH: GLADBACH 2-0 HERTHA

Gladbach lost 1-0 at Hertha last season, but returned the favour on home soil on Matchday 26. They ended the campaign down in 10th place, while Hertha were made to sweat against Hamburg in the relegation play-off.

SCHWARZ'S VIEW

"Gladbach’s defence will be a different kind of test for us. They can be flexible with their tactics. I don’t know Daniel Farke personally yet – we never spoke during the time we were in Russia together. You can already see them playing his way with their possession-based style of football in the centre of the pitch – just like at this former clubs. We will prepare for that and have to defend well in this area of the pitch."
camera-photo

FARKE'S VIEW

"I'm expecting a complicated game. Hertha are a club with a lot of potential. Fredi Bobic is a very experienced sporting director who is beginning to put his stamp on Hertha, and Sandro Schwarz is an excellent coach. You can already see his style and their process, and they’ve bought well in the transfer market. I’m sure that they will get plenty of points this season with that squad. We have a lot of respect for our opponent, but we’ve got plenty of quality and have enjoyed a good start to the season. We want to keep our unbeaten run going on Friday evening – to do that, we will have to be at our best in all aspects and deliver a top performance."

THE SEASON SO FAR

Borussia thumped lower-league Oberachern 9-1 in the DFB Cup first round, before beating Hoffenheim 3-1 and drawing 2-2 at Schalke. Hertha bowed out at the first hurdle following a penalty shootout defeat to Eintracht Braunschweig, and lost 3-1 to city rivals Union, but took a point off UEFA Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt a week ago.

WELCOME!

Borussia Mönchengladbach kick off Bundesliga Matchday 3 against Hertha Berlin. The Foals are unbeaten in three competitive matches under Daniel Farke, while Sandro Schwarz's Hertha are yet to win...
