GAME OVER

A top game ends all square, which is probably the right result on balance. Burkardt's first goal of the season put Mainz ahead in the first half before Kolo Muani netted his fifth goal of the campaign to equalise for Frankfurt - who momentarily go third in the standings - in the second half.

BARREIRO EFFORT

Barreiro batters one off target from inside the area. Both teams are going for this as we head into the final ten minutes. There could ytt be a winner here.

GÖTZE GREATNESS

Zentner races off his line (not for the first time in this game) to try and clear from Kolo Muani. Bad move. Mainz lose possession and the ball is played to Götze, who goes for a worldie, lobbed finish as Zentner scurries back. The keeper just makes it in time to save.

FRANKFURT ON TERMS

It's that man again! Kolo Muani receives a sublime, flicked through pass from Götze and holds off the Mainz defender as he advances around Zentner. The France forward fires high into the net and Eintracht are level.

CHANCES BOTH ENDS

Trapp comes to Eintracht's rescue once more, the Qatar-bound goalkeeper saving well with his legs from Barreiro. At the other end, Kolo Muani almost creates an opening as he jinks down the left, beats his man and crosses into the centre. There was nobody there for Eintracht.

NO PENALTY

For a moment, it seems as though Eintracht have a penalty. Stefan Bell brings down the onrushing Kolo Muani, but after a review, the foul is adjudged to have taken place outside the box. Lindstrom hits the wall with the resulting set piece.

MAINZ LEAD

Amazing scenes. Burkardt fires Mainz into the lead but only after some sensational goalkeeping from Kevin Trapp. The custodian first denied Burkardt's header with a two-handed, point blank save from a corner. Onisiwo battered the rebound back at goal only for Trapp to save again. The loose ball was then headed back into Burkardt who converted from close range.

EINTRACHT'S SWEET WIN

A flowing performance led to Frankfurt putting four past their previous opponents, Hoffenheim, during the week.

"COOL CHARACTERS"

Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner has every right to be thrilled with his players for their achievements on the domestic front and in Europe of late. "If the lads weren’t such cool characters, there wouldn’t be such a good atmosphere in the dressing room," the coach said. "When we sign players, we make sure they’re good lads who put the success of the team above all else."

"SOMETHING TO PROVE"

Here's what home coach Bo Svensson had to say about today's encounter: "The pressure is there: we have to perform because we don’t want to have that feeling again like we had sitting in the dressing room after the [defeat] against Schalke. We’ve got something to prove, and that’s important to me."

EAGLES' LOFTY GOAL

By contrast, Eintracht have been flying. Should they add one more victory to a run that has seen them win four of their last five games, Die Adler could end up in second place in the standings at the end of Matchday 15, results from other games pending.

MAINZ NEED A LIFT

Mainz have been sliding in the wrong direction these past weeks, with Bo Svensson's men losing their last three games in a row and conceding ten times during that sequence. The 05ers will want to steady the ship asap and a solid performance against the Eagles will be the order of the day at the MEWA Arena.

IT'S MATCHDAY!

We're back, Bundesliga fans. The last Bundesliga Sunday before we break for the World Cup is upon us and we've got a couple of very enticing fixtures to bring your way. The first sees Mainz host the in-form Eintracht Frankfurt.
