MISSED CHANCE FOR BVB

As for Dortmund, they have now drawn three on the bounce in the league and are now just three points ahead of Bayern. They need to get back to winnings ways ASAP if they're to go on and win a first Bundesliga title since 2012.

TWO VERY DIFFERENT POINTS

A hard fought match comes to an end with both sides sharing the spoils in a 0-0 draw. A great result for Nuremberg who remain bottom but are now just a point off Hannover in 17th and two behind Stuttgart in 16th.

DISALLOWED GOAL!

We have the ball in the back of the net but it's not going to stand. A well worked move sees Alcacer square it to Bruun Larsen who taps home but the Spaniard is clearly offside when he is found and it won't count.

SHUFFLED PACKS

Bauer's arrival for the hosts has firmed up their midfield and he's essentially doubling up as a ball winning midfielder and second right-back. Brunn Larsen's arrival for Dortmund pushes another man forward, they essentially have four in attack now.

DORTMUND TIME

We are now officially entering Dortmund time. The Bundesliga leaders have scored 15 times in the final 15 minutes of matches this season. Will they grab a late one here?

A DEEPER GÖTZE

Alcacer's arrival has seen Götze drop in behind the Spaniard rather than deployed as the furthest forward Dortmund player. It's also worth noting that Alcacer scored 12 goals in his first 11 Bundesliga matches but has since gone five games without a goal.

ALL CHANGE UP TOP

The hosts also freshen things up in attack; Ishak replacing Zrelak. This game is very much there to be won by either side.
64'

COMETH THE HOUR...

This game could really do with a goal and the appearance of Alcacer off the bench is a very welcome sight in the search of some goal mouth action. Maybe not as a Nuremberg fan, though, as the Dortmund man has a league record 10 goals as a substitute already this season.

INSTANT IMPACT?

There's still a long way to go in this game but you have to hand it to  Schommers and Mintal in their first game in temporary charge of Nuremberg. The Bundesliga's bottom side have been superbly organised and keeping the league's most lethal attack very quiet so far.
54'

MATHIEN DENIES GÖTZE... AGAIN!

The Dortmund captain has provided his side's most dangerous threat so far but his low, powerful effort is palmed wide by Mathien once more. The Nuremberg goalkeeper a front runner for Man of the Match honours right now.

CTRL C, CTRL V

A copy and paste start to this second period as Dortmund, once again, have all the ball but are greeted by a stubborn Nuremberg defence that they can't open up. It might take a bit of magic or some good fortune to break the deadlock.

GOALS TO COME?

The hosts kick-off the second-half for us. No changes for either side at the break but expect them to come thick and fast the longer this game stays goalless.

A RARE CLEAN SHEET TO COME?

Mathenia is yet to keep a clean sheet in nine league games this season and has none against Dortmund in his career. He's been superb so far though and a resiliant Nuremberg hold firm against the league leaders at the break.
42'

SIDE NETTING

The net ripples but the ball is only brushing its outside as Witsel's deflected effort has Mathenia scrambling. Dortmund come even closer from the resulting corner, Götze's superb header looking bound for the back of the net only for Mathenia to leap across and push clear. Another good save from the Nuremberg 'keeper.

MATHENIA DENIES GÖTZE

Fine, fine saves from Mathenia who stops Götze from putting Dortmund in the lead not once, not twice, but three times. A double save from Mathenia frustrates the Dortmund captain before a third long range effort is superbly palmed wide by the home stopper just moments later. The game is opening up now.

BEHRENS GOES CLOSE

The closest we've come to a goal and it's the Nuremberg captain who has two very good chances to open the scoring. His first header is tipped over for a corner by Bürki and from the resulting set-piece Behrens has a free header from eight yards out but can only head over. Nuremberg look a real threat from dead balls.

HOSTS THREATEN FOR THE FIRST TIME

Nuremberg suddenly come to life and it lifts the crowd. A high ball is launched into the box but no-one is there to get on the end of Zrelak's nod down. The hosts are starting to find their feet a little now.
18'

BVB GETTING CLOSER

Dortmund have had 75 per cent of possession so far and are in total command of this first-half. Their best chance so far sees Delaney head over from a free-kick.
9'

PATIENCE REQUIRED

It's been as expected so far with Dortmund in control of possession and Nuremberg looking to counter when they win the ball back. The league leaders have had all the ball but are going to have to be patient tonight in breaking down a well organised looking Nuremberg defence. No real chances of note yet, just a long range Philipp effort that went over the bar.

FROSTY START

Whistles are ringing out at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in the early exchanges, a soundtrack to Dortmund's possession. It's not just the visitors' reception that is cold either, it's just four degrees celcius in the stadium. You definitely need the coat and scarf tonight.

KICK-OFF!

Dortmund get us underway...

PLAYERS ARE OUT

We're almost ready to go here with the players out from the tunnel, mascots in tow and handshakes all round. Will Nuremberg lit a fire under both the title and relegation battles? We'll soon find out.

(RELATIVE) HOME COMFORTS

Tonight's hosts have picked up 10 of their 12 Bundesliga points at home this season with both of Nuremberg's league victories coming on home soil. While that is encouragng compared to their away record, they still have the second worst home return in the league. Dortmund, meanwhile, are the second best Bundesliga travellers (W6, D3, L1) with just the one defeat on the road dished out by Fortuna on Matchday 16.

RECENT HISTORY SUGGESTS BVB WIN

This fixture has not been a happy one for Nuremberg recently, with Dortmund winning three and the teams sharing two draws in their past five meetings. During that time, Dortmund have scored 15 goals and conceded just two. A great night for Nuremberg to end a winless run against their visitors that dates back 11 years.

WOLF BACK IN THE PACK

Keep an eye out for Marius Wolf tonight, the 23-year-old handed his first league start since Matchday 4. Wolf has had an injury-plagued season to-date but gets his opportunity tonight in the unfamiliar role of right-back with Achraf Hakimi handed a rest and a place on the subs bench.

DORTMUND TEAM-NEWS

As for Dortmund, they also look much different to their 3-0 UEFA Champions League loss to Tottenham, with five changes of their own. Dortmund:  Bürki – Wolf, Weigl, Zagadou, Diallo – Witsel, Delaney – Sancho, Philipp, Guerreiro – Götze (c)  Subs:  Hitz, Hakimi, Alcacer, Dahoud, Schmelzer, Bruun Larsen, Toprak

AUGSBURG TEAM-NEWS

The hosts' team is out and they make three changes to the side that lost 2-0 at Hannover 96 last time out. Nuremberg: Mathenia - Valentini, Mühl , Ewerton, Leibold - Lö wen , Petrak, Behrens (c) - Perreira, Kubo - Zrelak.  Subs:  Bredlow, Bauer, Ishak, Kerk, Jäger, Palacios, Erras

THE LAY OF THE LAND

A win for the hosts tonight would see Nuremberg leap off the bottom of the table and move above Stuttgart in 16th's Relegation Playoff place. Defeat, however, would see Nuremberg remain last on 12 points. Dortmund go into this one knowing that victory would re-establish their five point lead at the top but a loss would leave defending champs Bayern Munich just two points off Favre's men. A draw would still leave Bayern within a win of Dortmund. Either way, the title race looks set to go to the wire.

DORTMUND ON HIGH ALERT

When these sides last met in September, Dortmund ran riot in a 7-0 win . The five-time Bundesliga champions will hope to show a similar ruthless streak tonight - all the more so given that they are currently on a four-game run without a win in all competitions. "Our senses are sharpened," BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said ahead of the game. "We'll give it our all to get back to winning ways. "It was clear there would be a period where we wouldn't be able to win every game at a canter. We have the feeling that almost every mistake is currently being punished. The luck isn't on our side right now."

NEW ERA AT NUREMBERG

With manager Michael Köllner departing following their latest defeat, Nuremberg have handed the reins over to his assistant Boris Schommers and club legend Marek Mintal in the interim. The Bavarian club are three points off the relegation play-off spot and six points from safety, so Schommers has vowed to spruce things up in a bid to upset the Bundesliga leaders. The 40-year-old said he finds intentity, pleasure and passion important in a team, and he has promised that there will be changes "both in the line-up and in the way we play football."

FAVRE READY FOR ANYTHING

Dortmund have been leaking goals of late, conceding three in each of their last three games against Werder Bremen in the DFB Cup, Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, and Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League. Visiting boss Lucien Favre wants his team to make sure they “don’t concede any more silly goals” tonight, while also trying to plan for each and every system that that the new-look home side might employ. “We need to prepare for every scenario,” Favre said.

NUREMBERG DUE A WIN?

Nuremberg have not won in the Bundesliga since a 3-0 home success against Fortuna Düsseldorf – which came directly after their seven-goal thrashing in Dortmund in September.   What better way to end a 15-game winless run in the Bundesliga by beating the league leaders in the first match between the sides in Nuremberg in almost six years? The Bavarians’ record against Dortmund suggests it will be a difficult task. They last got the better of Dortmund in a competitive fixture in November 2007, when the home side ran out 2-0 winners.
