Cologne's chance conversion

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Colgone have scored eleven goals in the twelve matches of the second half of the season. Ulm have scored more often in 2025...

Full-time: Fürth 1-1 Cologne

There was so much more potential for goals! An open and exciting exchange of blows until the end finishes in a 1-1 draw. Cologne cannot be satisfied with this point, but Fürth also did put up a very good fight.

On the spot

Lemperle gets to the ball again after a long pass in the box, brings it down and immediately shoots - Noll is still wide awake. The Cologne player was offside anyway.

Four minutes to go!

Stoppage time is running... Cologne are throwing everything at it and desperately want all three points, Fürth are now concentrating on defending and counter-attacking.

Double substitution

The very active Green and Massimo come off, replaced by Srbeny and Meyerhöfer for the final minutes. Is there to be some late drama here?
85'

Post!

A cross from the left by Olesen reaches Downs at the far post, who is pulled by John and can't get a clean shot off.
82'

Intense

Because Ljubicic takes the ball too far ahead and then catches Green on the foot, a Cologne player receives a yellow card for the sixth time this evening.
81'

Strong tackling Fürth trio

Quarshie has won 78% of his duels so far today, Loosli 77% and Itter 75% - the three players from Fürth's back three are the strongest tacklers on the pitch.
79'

Substitution

78'

Over!

Ljubicic shoots from a central position, but the ball whistles just over the crossbar.
76'

Schwäbe!

Consbruch has another good opportunity on the right in front of the goal, but once again the Cologne keeper makes himself big and prevents the ball from hitting the back of the net.

All to play for

Both teams are fighting and clearly want the three points.
74'

Noll gets there first

A searching ball is played to Downs, but Noll is alert and clears the ball ahead of the striker.

Strong support, strong goalkeeping

Great opportunities on both sides - it could easily be 3-3 by now - but because both Nahuel Noll and Marvin Schwäbe are making excellent saves, only two goals have been scored so far.
71'

Tough challenge

Now Uth as well, who goes in with his studs up on Green.
70'

Yellow Card

Huseinbašić holds Klaus and receives the next booking.
69'

More substitutions

Futkeu leaves the pitch after his missed chance and is replaced by Consbruch. For Cologne, Olesen comes on to replace Pauli, who has been really strong today.
68'

Chance for Futkeu

The hosts counterattack quickly. A long ball reaches Futkeu on the right side of the box, but he can't put it in the back of the net.
67'

Cologne pushing

The Billy Goats are playing around the danger zone of Fürth and looking for gaps.
64'

Real chance

The new man immediately gets in amongst it after latching onto a pass from Downs and really should have made it 2-1! Relatively unmarked on the right side of the goal, he fails to beat Noll, who throws his arms up to make the save.
63'

Minutes for Uth

The substitute has made only six brief appearances so far this season with a total of 40 minutes. If he plays until the final whistle today, it would be his longest spell on the pitch of the whole of the 2024/25 campaign.
62'

Next substitution

Goalscorer Waldschmidt comes off, can the newly-introduced Uth pose more problems?
60'

Blocked

Paqarada lays it off from the left to Waldschmidt, whose shot at the near post is blocked for a corner.
57'

HUGE chance

Lemperle receives the ball on the right in front of the goal and aims for the far corner from a good position but the ball bobbles just wide to the left.
56'

Balanced

It's going back and forth and it's still all to play for here.

Peeep!

Green plays a deep ball from midfield. Schwäbe collects it somewhat uncertainly, but the sprinting Hrgota somehow manages to get to the ball and puts it into the net. The referee immediately blows the whistle.
49'

Missed

Green is brilliantly played through on the left. He makes up some ground and then plays it across - Futkeu makes a run, stretches, but can't quite reach it.

Waldschmidt's run

It's his 6th goal of the season, three of which have come in the last five matches. He has been involved in four of Cologne's last six goals.

We're back underway!

Cologne make two changes for the second half: Ljubicic and Downs replace Kainz and Rondic.

Half-time: Fürth 1-1 Cologne

The teams go into the dressing rooms level at the break. Cologne started well, but Fürth also played really well from the beginning, attacking bravely and creating several chances. The Cologne side needed some time to find their way back into the match after conceding, but just before the break, the Billy Goats equalised from a penalty.

Penalty!

Cologne play through Fürth nicely. Pauli tries to push the ball past his opponent on the left side of the penalty area, but gets cleared out and the referee points to the spot!
41'

Pace slowing down

In the last few minutes, there have been few noteworthy actions on either side. Cologne's crosses are still lacking precision.
38'

Foul

Kainz catches Klaus on the foot and receives the second booking of the match.
38'

Could have been more in that

A free-kick from in off the left flank sails into the box. Rondić throws himself at it, but doesn't make decisive contact on the ball with his header.
35'

Cologne trying

The visitors keep playing down the wings, but they simply lack the precision in the final third.
camera-photo

Key player

Strong build-up play for the opener - Roberto Masismo was already involved in two goals in the last home match against Schalke.
32'

Fürth doing well

They haven't sat back after taking the lead, but are pushing for a second goal - Cologne's last shot on goal was before conceding, since then it's been 7 attempts to nil for the hosts.
30'

Waldschmidt!

After a long time, Cologne have another chance: Paqarada and Lemperle press Fürth well and win the ball. Lemperle lays it back to Waldschmidt, who immediately fires a shot. Noll has to stretch fully to the right corner and makes the save!

A corner from the right comes to the far post, where the ball is played back into the centre. There, Massimo doesn't get enough power behind the ball. Nevertheless, Schwäbe has to intervene.

Fürth are the better team and are closer to scoring a second goal than Cologne are to scoring their first.

Tenth goal of the season

Noel Futkeu is the first Fürth player this season to reach double figures in terms of goals.
21'

Dangerous

The home side are repeatedly playing long balls forward. Futkeu chases the ball down on the right, before squaring it centrally to Hrgota, who aims for the left corner, but his shot is slightly deflected.

Another early goal

In the last home match against Schalke, the opener came in the 11th minute, today it was the 12th minute.

Paqarada plays it from the left into the centre, where no one can get on the end of it in the scramble. Shortly after, Lemperle crosses from the left again, but this time Rondić gets to the ball, though, leaning back slightly, he puts it just over the crossbar.

Good ball

Klaus delivers an excellent ball from the right to Hrgota, who brings it down and crosses it into the middle - but the arriving Futkeu can't reach it.
5'

Brave

The Cloverleaves are showing from the start that they want to play their part here too.

And we're off!

The visitors from Cologne have just kicked off the match, who will get off to a better start?
Kick-off!

Pauli replaces Heintz

There's a last-minute second change for Cologne: Dominique Heintz injured himself during the warm-up, Julian Pauli moves into the team for him. The 19-year-old had just made his comeback last week after months out injured, and is starting for the first time since the end of November (Matchday 14, 2-2 against Hannover).

Double centurion

Branimir Hrgota is playing his 200th competitive match for the Cloverleaves tonight. It's his 157th appearance for Fürth in the Bundesliga 2, in addition to his 34 Bundesliga matches and nine appearances in the DFB Cup. In that time, Hrgota has scored 65 goals so far.

More on that Fürth side

Jan Siewert makes three changes to his starting line-up from their 1-0 defeat in Darmstadt last time out: Roberto Massimo replaces the absent Simon Asta, while Branimir Hrgota (returning from suspension) and Julian Green (fit again) are back. They take the places of Jomaine Consbruch and Dennis Srbeny in the starting XI.

Cologne team news

There's only one change for Cologne compared to their defeat against Hertha last time out: Florian Kainz, who has been used as a substitute in the last two matches, returns to the starting line-up in place of Mathias Olesen.

Cologne starting XI

Schwäbe - Schmied, Martel, Heintz - Thielmann, Kainz, Paqarada - Waldschmidt, Huseinbašić - Rondić, Lemperle

Fürth starting XI

Noll – Loosli, Quarshie, Itter – Massimo, Dietz, Green, John – Hrgota - Klaus, Futkeu

Siewert on facing Cologne

"Cologne have the lowest xG against them this season. They have a very high intensity, they threaten in-behind and repeatedly build phases of dominance. You can only combat this with resoluteness, but also with the ball in decisive moments."

Struber on facing Fürth

"It was a bitter to lose against Hertha last week, but we're diving into the here and now. We need to pick up momentum for an important match in Fürth. The team is very focused. This is another chance for three points."

Lemperle reuinion

Tim Lemperle scored six goals in 32 second division matches for Fürth last season. He's now set to make his return as a Cologne player.

Eighteen years of hurt

Fürth celebrated the last of only two victories in 21 competitive matches against Cologne a whopping 18 years ago, on 29 April 2007. That day, they bagged a 2-0 away win in the Bundesliga 2 under manager Benno Möhlmann. Their only home victory in nine matches against Cologne came 22 years ago – a 2-0 victory on 8 May 2003.

Cologne on top

Cologne are unbeaten in nine competitive matches against Fürth (four wins, five draws), and have won four of the last five encounters.

At the death

In the first clash between these sides earlier in the season, Damion Downs scored the only goal of the game as Cologne clinched victory in in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
