Full-time: Magdeburg 2-0 Kaiserslautern
A statement of intent in the promotion battle: With the victory in this direct clash, Magdeburg move into the relegation play-off spot, which Lautern had previously occupied. And they did it almost without resistance. After Atik crowned his outstanding first half with a brace, there was virtually nothing happening in the second half. That was enough to see out the victory without any danger, resulting in a deserved 2-0 win.

Unlucky Ache
Fits the pattern: The striker has had three (unsuccessful) attempts on goal in his milestone match so far, no other player has tried as often as he has.

Goalless Red Devils?
Over the past four matchdays, Kaiserslautern had scored a total of ten goals. The last time the Palatinate side failed to score was on Matchday 23 in the 3-0 defeat against Hamburg.

Teixera out of bounds
The substitute dribbles across the penalty area, but forgets that at some point he also needs to get the ball towards the goal or to a teammate. With the ball at his feet, he runs straight over the byline, play continues with a goal kick. The fans are witnessing a sluggish match in the second half.

Yokota dazzles
The Japanese player dribbles wonderfully along the right byline, then plays to the unmarked Gyamerah, whose shot gets blocked by the opponent's legs. Still no breakthrough for the visitors.

Any chance with Ranos?
Kaiserslautern are in possession, especially around the newly substituted Ranos, who is showing a bit more creativity. But the Magdeburg defensive block is hard to break down, a cross ends up with the opposition.

Hardly any shots
There's no lack of will, the Red Devils are throwing everything forward: Yokota plays it out to the recently substituted Wekesser - whose cross finds no taker, the subsequent pressing from the Kaiserslautern forwards ends with an offensive foul.

Magdeburg in the play-off spot
With the current score, the home team will take third place, which was previously held by their opponents today.

Heated atmosphere
The Red Devils are fighting their way back into the match with plenty of physical commitment, which is also energising the away fans. The Magdeburg supporters naturally aren't too pleased about this. It's really loud in the stadium now, a real battle of attrition for promotion.
57'
Lautern back in the game
Lautern are slowly finding their way into the match, now managing to keep possession for longer periods. Ache finishes off a passing sequence, but the ball flies well over the Magdeburg goal.
54'
What was that all about?!
Reimann is standing far in front of his own box to receive a ball from his own defenders and doesn't see Redondo rushing in from behind. He gets between the keeper and the ball, and is then hit from behind by Reimann, who had just tried to play the ball forward. Free-kick for Lautern from about 45 yards.

Huge chance for 3-0!
And it's Atik who is once again at the centre of the action. He's played through behind the defensive line on the right, then plays it into the middle to Kaars - but Elvedi just manages to get a foot in for a crucial intervention!
47'
Magdeburg control the game
An unchanged picture: Magdeburg have the ball and are passing it safely through their own ranks. Let's see what Lautern can come up with for the second half.

Half-time: Magdeburg 2-0 Lautern
For a long time, the match was completely balanced, then Magdeburg showed what has made them so strong throughout the entire season: A deliberate, controlled passing game and the fine skills of their attacking technicians earned Magdeburg two goals. Lautern must reproach themselves for having done too little for the match since falling behind 1-0 after just under half an hour.

Atik at the double!
It's a curious goal, but nonetheless brilliantly executed by the excellent Atik today. First he outpaces his opponents and snatches a high ball from Lautern during their build-up play, heading it on with his first touch to Nollenberger. He holds the ball briefly and plays it back to Atik in the space behind. His ball into the penalty area, probably intended as a cross, isn't met by anyone and rolls leisurely into the net, just inside the right post.
41'
Elvedi against Atik
The two clash with each other repeatedly, and once again it's Elvedi who goes in a bit too hard against his smaller but more agile opponent.
39'
Brief interruption
Burcu has taken a knock, needs brief treatment. But now play continues.
37'
1-0 specialist Atik
Atik scored his sixth goal of the season (all since Matchday 15), and he has scored the opener four times. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything: in the first leg at the Betzenberg, Magdeburg even led 2-0 and had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the end.
35'
Redondo with the heel
Yokoto spots Redondo in the penalty area, who makes a rather half-hearted attempt at the high ball with his heel. At least there's a corner afterwards, as a Magdeburg player touches the ball. But nothing comes from it.
33'
How will the Red Devils respond?
At the moment, not at all. On the contrary, driven on by their fans, Magdeburg are passing the ball through their own ranks, not allowing Lautern to get anywhere near the ball.
31'
Goal drought ended
After 278 goalless minutes, Magdeburg has finally scored again.
29'
Atik with the opener!
The lead for Magdeburg! After a throw-in, Magdeburg keep the ball in the opposition half for a long time, passing and passing until a gap opens up. Burcu plays the ball into this space, Atik receives it, turns and shoots from the right corner of the six-yard box low into the far corner.
27'
Ahl-Holmström!
The free kick yields nothing, but Magdeburg keep possession and cross from the other side. The subsequent header from the Swede is saved by Simoni. Good chance!
24'
Free kick
Burcu puts the ball past Kleinhansl, who sticks out his leg, which the Magdeburg player trips over – free-kick for Magdeburg from in off the right flank.
21'
Simoni alert!
Burcu gets a shot off at the edge of the penalty area and tries to drive it low into the far corner. The Lautern keeper gets down in time and just manages to get his fingertips to it.
19'
Minor Skirmish
Atik dribbles with the ball unimpeded through the centre circle. Elvedi has no patience for it and brings him down. Subsequently, a small scuffle develops, the referee calms the situation. Play continues.
18'
An attempt
After a corner from Lautrer, Kleinhansl gets a shot from the edge of the box. He doesn't strike it well, the ball flies well over.

And the chance!
Redondo is sent through on the right, where he gets to the ball quicker than Mathisen. He volleys from a tight angle, but Simoni punches it away. The follow-up shot goes out for a goal-kick.
12'
From distance
Redondo plays it out to the left to Ritter, who fires a shot from about 25 yards. Powerful strike, but too central – no problem for Reimann.
10'
Hard to crack
The Magdeburg players pass the ball around the visitors' defensive block, then try with a cross. But Hercher's ball lands directly in Simoni's arms.
8'
Still too imprecise
Kaars chips a ball into the danger area, where Ahl-Holmström cannot jump high enough to reach it. Play continues with a goal-kick.
6'
Intense start
Kleinhansl fouls Burcu in midfield; things are getting heated right away.
5'
No time on the ball
Ache receives the ball played into his path, but has little time to control it and is closed down.
4'
Kaiserslautern organise themselves
As the fog slowly clears, which was caused by the smoke from the away end, Lautern's possession game is also gaining clarity. The Red Devils are passing the ball in a controlled manner through their own ranks.
1'
Hosts go close
Magdeburg's first big chance comes right away. Atik plays a brilliant ball through to Burcu in behind, whose cross then just narrowly misses Kaar's toe – he could have tapped it in unmarked!
