Seven of Füllkrug’s goals this season have put Werder 1-0 up. No player has scored as many opening goals as him in 2022/23. Second in that list is Augsburg’s Mergim Berisha, who has struck five times to make it 1-0 for his team.

The Bundesliga’s top scorer Niclas Füllkrug now has 14 goals to his name, equalling his personal best in the top flight for Hannover in 2017/18. He got his very first Bundesliga goal against Augsburg on 24 March 2012 (for Bremen). He bagged his first top-flight brace at the WWK Arena for Hannover in October 2017.

Werder were unbeaten in their first five away games of the season (W3, D2), but have since lost four out of five on their travels.

Augsburg have won three of their previous four league meetings with Bremen, including the last two. It means they’ve beaten Werder 11 times in the top flight, while scoring 36 goals all told against them. There’s no club the Bavarians have more wins or goals against in the Bundesliga.

Augsburg have won all three of their home games this calendar year – all by a score of 1-0. The last time they managed a longer winning run at home was in 2014, when they set their club record of five straight victories. However, they have never kept four consecutive clean sheets at home in the Bundesliga.
