Full-time: Münster 0-1 Nuremberg
Even though the home side had more chances and did more to win the game, Nuremberg take all three points here. For a long time, the match struggled to find rhythm, with chances at a minimum. Towards the end, however, it became heated, with Nürnberg's keeper Reichelt having to make several last-ditch saves. The rescinded penalty in stoppage time is likely to further irritate Preußen.

Nuremberg plays it out routinely
Nuremberg's young team are now playing it out well. Yilmaz cleverly draws a free kick near their own penalty area, while up front Tzimas & Co. try to hold onto the ball.

Penalty for Münster! Or is it?
It's not yet clear why a penalty has been awarded, but there's a handball by Yilmaz. After a free kick, the ball appears to have struck the arm of the player positioned in the wall. The referee is reviewing the incident again.

Can the Club pull it off now?
Certainly, the lead came about somewhat fortunately. Before the goal, the probability of winning was just over ten percent. Now, however, there is little reason to worry that they won't take the three points home.

Nuremberg find the breakthrough!
Out of nowhere, Nuremberg takes the lead! Tzimas controls a switch of play on the right and drives into the penalty area. From the right half-space in the box, he lays it off to the substitute Schleimer, who has little trouble scoring into the almost empty net while unmarked.

That was close!
The Franconians nearly knocked the ball into their own net. Knoche attempts to clear a long ball but hits Friðjónsson. The blocked clearance flies towards Reichelt, who is standing just outside the penalty area. The ball hits his leg and he picks it up. It would have been hard to imagine a more fitting goal.

Control centre without wires
One player who has managed to hold his own under pressure on the visitors' side so far is Jander. The midfielder has been able to handle all ten of his situations under pressure. He's just lacking the final connection so far.

Throw-ins are a means
When nothing works in open play, a set-piece might bring about a change. The hosts see throw-ins, especially on the left, as such a set-piece situation. Lorenz hurls the ball into the danger zone, but no shot from that particular sequence.
69'
Set piece for the Club
From the level of the right corner of the penalty area, Jander chips the ball towards the near post. Tzimas manages to get to the ball, but the hosts' defence with many legs prevents him from scoring.

Good free kick!
Now Preußen have the ball in a promising position. Janisch first brings ter Horst down and rightly sees yellow. From just over 20 metres, centrally in front of the goal, Lorenz takes charge. His powerful shot goes over the wall to the right, but Reichelt denies him with a brilliant flying save.
65'
No chances yet for Nuremberg
During this strong phase for the hosts, Nuremberg are experiencing a period of weakness. They're currently struggling to move forward, with the only bright spot being Yilmaz, who's adding some pace on the left flank in counter-attacks.
62'
Multiple chances for Münster
The Nuremberg defence fails to clear a cross from the left properly, resulting in an opportunity for Pick to shoot from the middle of the box. Klose's defender recover and manage to block this shot as well as the follow-up attempt with combined efforts.

Double post!
There was another cross from the right. Pick swings the ball all the way over to Lorenz, who immediately sends it back into the middle. Kinsombi heads the ball onto the inside of the post. Reichelt doesn't react at all and the ball hits his shin. From there, the ball bounces off the post again and is subsequently cleared. Crazy scene.
56'
Münster with more structure
The home side are not yet playing out of their skins, but they seem to be getting more composure in their game. After winning the ball, they're not forcing their way to the front. Instead, they're switching play and advancing down the other flank.

Nuremberg also ventures forward
The first attempt at an approach from the Franconians. Yilmaz carries the ball forward on the left in a counter-attack, playing diagonally into the centre in the final third. There, Tzimas takes the ball to the right, but his shot from just outside the penalty area is blocked.
47'
Münster with the better restart
The first half-chance of the second half once again belongs to the hosts. Lorenz whips in a cross from the left into the penalty area. The incoming Pick can't quite reach the ball.

Half-time: Preußen Münster 0-0 Nuremberg
This match hasn't been a great advertisement for football so far. There have been plenty of fierce challenges. When either team has managed to create anything, it's been from set-pieces by Nuremberg or through crosses whipped into the penalty area by Münster.

43'
Nuremberg lacking ideas
Klose's side are lacking a creative spark in their play. Though they are seeing a lot of the ball, it has mostly been contained to safer areas on the pitch. The legendary striker will need to inspire some offensive impetus into his team at half-time.
40'
Free kick opportunity for Münster
From about 30 metres out in a half-right position, Lorenz attempts a free kick. However, his effort lacks power and lands in Reichelt's arms.

Is Münster already flat?
Once again, a Münster player is late in midfield, and once again there's a yellow card. If the hosts can't win the ball early, the midfield looks overwhelmed. Pick is late challenging Janisch.
33'
Another attempt by Nuremberg
After winning the ball in their own half, Castrop sets Yilmaz running. The left winger dribbles into the penalty area and shoots from a tight angle. Preußen keeper Schenk barely needs to stretch.
32'
Nuremberg asserting greater control.
In general, the Franconians now seem to be more in control of the game. They are winning the ball back much quicker after losing possession than the home side.

Woodwork!
Nuremberg are awarded a free-kick about 25 metres from the penalty area. Justvan takes the ball from a half-left position and curls it around the wall, hitting the post. Schenk would likely have had no chance there.
27'
Double chance for SCP!
A cross from the right side slips through to Kinsombi at the far post. However, he can't get a controlled shot on target. Friðjónsson also fails to head the ball into the net afterwards. The subsequent corner kick comes to nothing.

Booking with consequences?
The yellow card for Preißinger could become a problem. The midfielder had to take one for the team because he couldn't stop Justvan any other way. Previously, Nuremberg managed to break free from the hosts' high pressing. This could be a means for the visitors to create chances as the game goes on.

Münster's pressing impresses
On the other side, the home team is particularly noticeable for their good work against the ball. Nuremberg are mostly left with long balls as the only option. Münster have managed to control the centre well enough.

Preußen favouring the left
When the home side creates something from organised possession, it's through their captain. Lorenz is repeatedly sought out with long passes. Not too much danger just yet.
10'
Nuremberg striving for control
FCN are visibly trying to bring structure to their game. Many of their passes in the opposition half are not finding their mark yet. Instead, they're circulating the ball in their own defensive line. So far, they haven't found a way to break down Preußen.
7'
High ball recovery but shot goes higher
Friðjónsson manages to intercept a sloppy pass from Nuremberg's keeper Reichert about 30 metres from goal. The Icelander doesn't hesitate and goes for the shot. However, the ball flies well over the crossbar.
5'
And Nuremberg?
The visitors have just created their first half-chance. Yilmaz brings the ball down the left flank to Justvan, who plays an untidy pass at the edge of the penalty area. Münster's Schenk is able to intercept the pass.
3'
Free kick opportunity for the hosts
Münster's Lorenz is brought down on the left side at the edge of the penalty area. The captain takes the free kick himself, but overhits the ball and it goes out for a goal kick.
2'
Münster doesn't hide
The opening minutes belong to the home side. They push forward immediately and have a throw-in near the penalty area. It results in little threat, but represents a positive start for them.

"Nuremberg are very offensive. This could turn into a back-and-forth match and be really exciting for the spectators. We're absolutely thrilled about Sunday."
Miroslav Klose on facing Preußen Munster
"Victories are of course important and as a manager, I demand that we show a reaction against Münster. However, it will be a very difficult match on Sunday."
Against his former employers
Florian Pick moved from Nuremberg to Münster in January 2025. In the first half of the season, he played nine matches for Nuremberg but only scored on Matchday 1, in Karlsruhe.

Rare trip
Nuremberg are guests at the Preußenstadion for the first time in 61 years. In February 1964, they won 1-0 in Münster during the inaugural Bundesliga season. They have only played one other time in Münster, losing 6-4 in 1951.
Jander the hero in reverse fixture
The meeting between these earlier this campaign was the first competitive fixture between Preußen Münster and Nuremberg in 56 years, with the Club winning 3-2 led by Münster-born Caspar Jander (who played in the hosts youth team). Jander scored once and set up the other two goals for the victors.
