Bayern stay perfect

That's three wins from three for Thomas Tuchel's men, who battled hard to end their Gladbach hoodoo. Ko Itakura gave the hosts a first-half lead but an improved showing from Bayern after the break led to Leroy Sane's equaliser. Substitute Mathys Tel then headed in his side's second goal late on and the Bavarians were celebrating victory soon afterwards.

Bayern's late lead

Simple as you like. Kimmich with the corner, Tel nods in. The Bayern fans in the corner erupt. Is that a late winner for the visitors?

Mathys Tel

No way through

Honorat and Gladbach sub Jordan look to combine on the counter but the pair run out of fizz and Bayern can mop that one up.

Borussia subs

Honorat and Elvedi are thrown into the Gladbach mix.

Tel comes on

A change for Bayern inside the final ten minutes with Goretzka making way for Mathys Tel.

Incredible Nicolas

Choupo-Moting's pass is deflected into the path of Sane, who fires at goal from point-bank range. Nicolas makes one more massive save and although the linesman's flag was up, that shouldn't take away from the Gladbach keeper's efforts there. Immense.

Kimmich wide

Bayern's current captain drills a low effort inches wide of the upright.

Busy Sane

It's one more big effort from Sane here. He's had 11 shots in his three Bundesliga games so far this term, and five in this match.
Maximilian Wöber Leroy Sané

Gladbach changes

Ullrich and Jantschke are on for Gladbach. Can the hosts see this one out with 15' to play? Bayern look the more likely to score the game's next goal at this point.

Nicolas denies Gnabry

It's one more superb save from Nicolas, who deflects Gnabry's header wide with his shoulder. Gnabry then has an effort deflected into the side netting soon afterwards.

Double swap

Thomas Tuchel makes a couple of changes. Thomas Müller and Kingsley Coman are coming off. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry are on.

Corner count

Bayern have had 11 corners to Gladbach's one in this game, but, tellingly, the Foals have scored from their solitary corner.

Sane tireless

Bayern's No.10 twists and turns inside the Gladbach box before lifting a pass towards the penalty spot. The away side can't take advantage and Gladbach manage to clear.

Shot clock blowing up

In-form Sane

Leroy Sane joins Harry Kane as Bayern's top scorer with three goals apiece.

Coman booked

Coman's boot lands on Friedrich's foot and that looked painful. Yellow card for Bayern's winger.

Bayern are level

The away side ping it about a bit in the final third. The ball reaches Kimmich, who dinks a pass in for Sane. The attacker takes it on his chest and swings his leg wildly. The ball connects with Sane's studs and flies past Nicolas. Not the tidiest of finishes but Sane won't care: that's three goals in three games for the Bayern man.

Leroy Sané

Müller time

Bayern are in the ascendency now. Müller spins and shoots at goal from inside the box. The ball flashes narrowly wide. The visitors are getting closer.

Itakura rescues Gladbach

Brilliant feet from Coman to make space for himself and get a shot at the target, which Nicolas parries upwards. Goretzka is there on the follow up to head goalwards. Itakura nods off the line.

The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).

Nicolas excelling

Coman eyes the far post and sends a rising cross in for Kane. Nicolas is there again to push that out for a corner. Goretzka subsequently heads Kimmich's set piece well wide.

Ullreich focus

Wöber gets up the left and whips a cross into the centre. Ullreich comes off his line and gathers.

Bayern lacking flow

Laimer and Goretzka have given away a couple of free kicks at the start of this second half. The reigning Bundesliga champions have yet to really hit their stride in this game.

Away we go again ...

The second half is underway. Bayern are showing one change at the break with Noussair Mazraoui being replaced by Konrad Laimer.

Half time

Davies rolls a shot along the floor which Nicolas gather with ease. The referee subsequently blows for half time. Gladbach are in familiar territory as Bayern's bogey team, the hosts leading through Ko Itakura's goal.

Itakura man of the moment

Gladbach still lead through Ko Itakura's header going into the break. The 26-year-old also headed Gladbach into a 1-0 lead against Augsburg on Matchday 1. He's scored with two of his three efforts on goal so far this season.

Tuchel's unwanted first

Itakura's opener earlier means that Thomas Tuchel has seen his Bayern side concede for the first time in the first half on his watch.

Bayern hit the bar

Kimmich battles back possession and knocks it to Müller, who in turn spots Sane making a move on the right. Sane - from inside the area - accelerates forward and leathers a shot at goal. The ball rattles against the bar. Nicolas is celebrating: the goalkeeper got a touch to that.

The running men

Julian Weigl Joshua Kimmich

No-nonsense Nicolas

Moritz Nicolas watches Kimmich's flighted centre all the way before launching himself, Superman style, and fisting the ball away with Thomas Müller shaping to head in. The home crowd roar their approval.

Pulsating Foals

The home side go close to a second! Plea with another pinpoint set piece, this time a free kick. His low pass reaches Weigl, who smacks the ball towards the near post first time. Ullreich gets down and manages to push the effort away.

Gladbach lead!

Borussia-Park explodes! Gladbach have been coming more and more into this game and they have the lead. Plea's corner from the right is headed towards the far stick by Maximilian Wöber. Itakura is there to send a looping header back across Ullreich and in. Scenes!

Chances increasing

So close Gladbach!

Mazraoui handles on the right and the hosts are awarded a free kick. Plea sends an inviting one into the mixer. Friedrich rises and loops a header onto the top of the crossbar! The home fans were on their feet there.

Nicolas stop

Moritz Nicolas deals with a Sane effort handily enough. Still no goals at Borussia-Park but you get the feeling we're getting closer to the opener.

Mazraoui booked

Kane is dispossessed and the ball makes its way back to Weigl, who is upended my Mazraoui. The 25-year-old isn't happy and let's the referee know. A yellow card swiftly follows for Mazraoui.

Sane opening

Lovely work from Müller who finds the onrushing Sane with a simple pass. Sane then tries to dink a crisp finish in at the far post from an angle but his effort bounces past the upright.

Interesting opening

Gladbach will be pleased enough with the opening quarter here. Gerardo Seoane's men have been compact and always ready to spring on the break. Bayern have their work cut out trying to find openings.

Kane to Müller

Kane and Müller combine for the first time in this game and although things don't quite work out, expect to see more of those two scheming together in this game.

Bayern in possession

The visitors have seen most of the ball thus far. Still no huge chance created, though.

Wöber effort

Full back Maximilian Wöber powers down the left and suddenly eyes glory. His thwack towards the far post never really troubles Ullreich, however, the ball fizzing well wide.

Reitz loose

Reitz's back pass towards Friedrich is poor and the ball runs out for a corner kick, which comes to nothing, although it does allow Bayern to get back on the front foot.

Foals bite back

Gladbach have been full of energy thus far and a decent counter thrust involving Plea and Reitz just breaks down at a critical moment. Unlucky.

Bayern to the fore

Tuchel's men win a couple of corners early doors. Kimmich takes both, the second of which finds Goretzka, whose downard header is collected by Moritz Nicolas.

Game on!

Bayern get the encounter underway beneath bright, sunny skies ...

Kane watch

We're about to see Harry Kane emerge into the players' tunnel. Perfect timing for you to brush up on your knowledge of England's record goalscorer.

Borussia-Park bouncing

It almost goes without saying that Gladbach's home is packed to the rafters, it always is! There's something in the air around these parts today, however. With Bayern in town, we're pretty much guaranteed drama between these sides.

Peretz, Jordan firsts

New Bayern keeper Daniel Peretz is in the visitors' squad for the first time since his move from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Should the 23-year-old see some game time this evening, he would be the 11th Israeli to play in the Bundesliga and the first for Bayern. Recent Gladbach arrival, the USMNT forward Jordan, is also on the bench for the first time today.

Lest we forget ...

Bayern are winless in their last five competitive encounters with Gladbach. Can the record champions break the Foals' spell over them or will today's hosts continue that fine run? We're soon to find out.

Bayern team news

Thomas Müller is in Bayern's starting eleven for the first time this season. The Bundesliga legend begins in place of Serge Gnabry. Harry Kane goes in search of a fourth Bundesliga goal up top and will be assisted in the task by the in-form Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman. Jamal Musiala is injured.

Gladbach team news

The hosts are showing a couple of changes from the side that started last weekend's loss against Bayer Leverkusen. Goalkeeper and captain Jonas Omlin has a shoulder injury and is replaced by Moritz Nicolas, making his Bundesliga debut for the Foals. Rocco Reitz, meanwhile, is in for Franck Honorat to make only his second top-flight start for the locals.

Seoane wary of Bayern attack

"FC Bayern have players of huge quality in every position," said Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane ahead of this Matchday 3 fixture. "There's a lot of talk about Harry Kane of course because of his transfer saga. He's an extremely reliable striker. He doesn’t need many chances to score and that doesn’t make him any easier to defend against," the tactician added.

Tuchel: "Bayern favourites"

Thomas Tuchel jokingly commented, "We don't believe in runs when they go against us," when asked about his side's inability to get the better of Gladbach in recent times. Striking a more serious tone, the Bayern tactician added, "We go to Gladbach as favourites and want to win. We want to build on our game against Bremen and the second half against Augsburg."
