Bayern stay top

De Ligt's rocket settles a tight game in Freiburg. Bayern stay top, two points clear of Dortmund, who beat third-placed Union in the other Super Saturday top-four fixture.

Tame!

Gravenberch now after a corner is half cleared. It's a poor connection, though, and an easy save for the Freiburg keeper.

Defensive reinforcements

Two of them in the dying embers - that's a measure of how highly Tuchel regards Freiburg.
88'

Höfler!

He scored a belter in midweek, and Höfler isn't far away here. He connects with a Sallai free-kick, but Sommer is happy to watch it bounce in front of goal and wide of his far post.
87'

One final push?

Good spell for Freiburg. Will they carve out another chance? Streich's men scored a last-gasp penalty in their DFB Cup win over Bayern, remember...
80'

Dortmund back in front

Moukoko from the bench for BVB, who are back to within two points of Bayern as Davies cracks one off target from range.
78'

Chance not taken

Gnabry sends Sane through on goal, but he lifts his chipped attempt over the crossbar. Will Freiburg make Bayern pay for that missed opening?
70'

Sommer brilliance!

Freiburg go desperately close to an equaliser. Höler's hanging cross is cleared only as far as Sallai, who swipes goalwards. Sommer's going the other way as it takes a deflection, but manages to throw up his right leg to fend it clear.
66'

Half chance!

An opening for Eggestein on the edge of the Bayern box, but Mane steams in from nowhere to do just enough to put him off. The eventual shot sails off target.

So far, so good for leaders Bayern

65'

Table talk

Union have equalised in Dortmund, meaning Bayern will open up a four-point lead at the top if things stay like this.
63'

Double change

Streich didn't make any subs in the DFB Cup in midweek, but here comes a double change. Sallai certainly has the pace to stretch this Bayern defence.
60'

Huge chance!

Sane with a wonderful solo run. He has Daves on the overlap, but doesn't see him and instead sends a chipped effort over Flekken and onto the roof of the net.
58'

Off target!

Pavard with a shot full of ambition, in a position not too dissimilar to de Ligt's goal, but it's always rising. We all know he can strike a ball...
56'

Flekken heroics!

Cat-like reactions again from Flekken to stop Mane finding the net from Müller's sweeping cross. Sensational goalkeeping!
53'

Not given!

There's a lengthy review after Höler handles in the box after sliding in to stop a pass from finding Kimmich - but the referee stands by his original decision.

Advantage Bayern!

De Ligt smashes Bayern into the lead. Gnabry and Musiala show great hussle to win back the ball in the Freiburg box. There's not much on for de Ligt, who leaves Flekken absolutely helpless with a swerving strike from 20 yards.

In the faces

Freiburg have made a really tenacious start to the second half. They're forcing the mistakes from Bayern and attacking at speed when the chance arises.

Big second half under way!

No changes at the break. Expect Tuchel to turn to Coman, the longer it stays goalless. Streich will want to see more of the same...

Goalless at the break

A very similar game to Tuesday's DFB Cup tie. Bayern have had their chances, but Freiburg have dug in and even struck the woodwork.

Höler in pain

The Freiburg striker is down receiving treatment after being caught on the shin by de Ligt. It looked accidental, but the referee is going to take another look at the incident...
44'

Off the post!

What a chance for the hosts! Gregoritsch gets the wrong side of de Ligt to cut a pass into the six-yard box. Davies doesn't spot the run of Doan, who slides in to turn the ball against the foot of the upright. Huge let-off for Bayern!
41'

Chance!

Freiburg concede possession in their own half. Sane exchanges passes with Kimmich and only has Flekken to beat, but his first touch is heavy and the Freiburg keeper is able to block. A first-time shot might have been the better option...
40'

Lack of precision

Bayern with crosses into the box, but Mane can't reach Müller's pass. Davies tries to find Sane at the end of Bayern's next attack, with Flekken first to it ahead of the Bayern No.10. Müller complained of a 'lack of precision' in midweek - history is repeating itself.
36'

Gulde injured

Looks like a hamstring problem for the veteran defender. Lienhart's on.
35'

Wayward!

Freiburg catch out Bayern on the counter as Günter drives beyond Cancelo and into the box. He has options to his right, but goes for goal and blazes off target.
33'

Off the line!

De Ligt is first to a Kimmich corner from the left, knocking it into the path of Pavard. It's not the cleanest connection by the Frenchman and takes a couple of deflections, before being scooped off the line and into the grateful arms of Flekken.
32'

Dortmund lead!

Malen's given BVB the lead against third-placed Union. As things stand, they're back level on points with Bayern, who have the better goal difference.
27'

Sane!

Bayern are faced with a red wall on the edge of the Freiburg box. Sane tries to breach it with a shot in off the left-hand side, but curls the ball wide of Flekken's far post. Nice idea.
24'

Close!

Freiburg hold their shape really well as a Bayern attack breaks down. Grifo slides a brilliantly disguised pass the wrong side of Cancelo for Günter, whose cut-back is snuffed out by Kimmich. Cancelo proceeds to dance his way out of trouble. Supremely confident play by the Man City loanee.

Quality top-four encounter

18'

Mane chance!

Lovely stuff again from Bayern on the corner of the Freiburg box. Mane's involved and continues his run to go one on one with Flekken. The Freiburg keeper stays big, though, and Mane's attempted chip goes wide.
16'

Safe hands

Günter with a free-kick from a good 30 yards. He drives it through the wall towards the bottom corner, but Sommer sees it coming and makes the save look easy.
14'

G-G connection

Freiburg are looking for their left-wing combo of Günter and Grifo whenever they break into Bayern territory. Another cross comes in from that side, but there's Pavard with the clearance.

Flekken to the rescue!

Brilliant play from Bayern to get in behind the Freiburg defence. A cross is eventually clipped over to Gnabry, who can't do much more with his downward header. Only Flekken's fabulous reflexes keep it out.
5'

Freiburg mean business

No fear from Freiburg as they turn defence into attack in a flash, after a Bayern passing move breaks down. It's shifted out to Grifo, who cuts inside and sees a goal-bound shot blocked by Pavard.
3'

White wave

Bayern are hogging the ball in the opening exchanges, but can they prise open this watertight Freiburg defence that stood so firm in the DFB Cup?

Watch: Tuchel's Bayern under the tactical microscope

Tuchel's gone for a 4-1-4-1 today, despite playing with a hybrid 4-2-3-1/ 3-5-2 against Dortmund.

Beware wounded Bayern

Both sets of players were in good spirits in the warm-ups, but it'll be game faces soon after. They're back in the dressing room ahead of kick-off. Will we see a response from Bayern?

Watch: Freiburg stun Bayern in the DFB Cup

"You need luck" was the general consensus in the Freiburg camp after they came from behind to knock Bayern out of the DFB Cup in midweek - but what an effort it was!

More on those teams

Streich takes the 'if it ain't broke...' approach, naming the same side that won 2-1 in Munich in midweek. Tuchel makes four changes, meanwhile, starting with the suspended Upamecano. Pavard moves inside, with Cancelo going to the right and Davies recalled on the opposite flank. Goretzka makes way for an extra man in attack as Musiala, Gnabry and Mane come in. Coman drops to the bench, while Choupo-Moting is out injured.

In the zone

Christian Streich is keen that his players don't dwell too much on last Tuesday's Cup victory against Bayern with today's rematch in the Bundesliga in mind. "We can’t be too overjoyed, we have to be clear and we want to put in a great performance,” the 57-year-old said. “Every player has to get into his zone and focus fully. We must not allow ourselves to be distracted."

Freiburg's cup showing was a significant improvement on their previous Bundesliga meeting with the record champions.

Bogey team

Freiburg have only won one of their 39 Bundesliga games against Bayern to date (D8, L30) - 2-1 at home in May 2015 - and are winless in their last 13. But is their recent cup triumph the blueprint they needed?

Watch: How Bayern beat Dortmund - AWS Match Facts analysis

Tuchel oversaw a debut win over former club Dortmund in Der Klassiker. The record champions went 4-0 up, before BVB scored a couple of consolation goals. Bundesliga Match Facts powered by AWS takes an analytical look at the table-topping contest.

Super Saturday!

As well as Bayern going up against fourth-placed Freiburg on Saturday, second hosts third as Dortmund take on Union Berlin - also at 3.30pm CEST. And so to the permutations at the top of the table. Thomas Tuchel's Bayern are guaranteed to end the weekend on pole, unless they lose and Dortmund win. Union will go second if they down BVB, and to within a point of first place if Freiburg - currently eight points behind Bayern - also win. Die Breisgauer have a two-point cushion on fifth-placed RB Leipzig, who take on Hertha Berlin in the Saturday late game.
camera-photo

Cupset almighty

Yes, Freiburg - last season's beaten DFB Cup finalists - won in Munich on Tuesday for the first time in their history. They did it the hard way, coming from a Dayot Upamecano goal down to level through Niclas Höfler. Die Breisgauer withstood some relentless pressure, before Lucas Höler fired in a last-minute penalty to send them into the last four.

The hunted again

Bayern reclaimed top spot in the Bundesliga with victory over title rivals Borussia Dortmund last weekend. They're now two points clear of BVB, but smarting from their midweek DFB Cup quarter-final defeat to... Freiburg.
