WHAT A GAME!

We still have three minutes to play of injury time but what an incredible game this has been. Both sides have come from behind, but Mainz have crucially done it right at the end. This win would take them five points clear of Cologne, who will sit second-bottom in the table.

BARREIRO AT THE DEATH!

Incredible! Mainz may well have won this game, coming back from 2-1 down in the second half to lead in added on time. It's a fine break down the left with Niakhate finding Mwene on the left, who then passes into the middle. Barreiro is on the edge of the box to meet it and slots the ball home across Horn, who can only watch the ball roll past him into the bottom corner.

COLOGNE ON THE HUNT

It's a real midfield battle here at the end of this game, but the home side are doing most of the attacking work as they look for a winner. Mainz's defence is sitting deeper now and mopping up the long balls coming their way.
82'

LOOKING FOR A WINNER

Mainz had a good response following Onisiwo's equaliser but now it's Cologne on the front foot once again, and going forward in search of what would be a vital winner at the end here.
79'

DOUBLE MAINZ CHANGE

Quaison and Latza are on here for the final 10 minutes with the two scorers, Boetius and Onisiwo, coming off.
78'

BORNAUW RETURNS!

The Belgian defender returns from his back operation and is on for Mere.
77'

HORN'S SHOT DEFLECTED

The ball runs loose for Jannes Horn to strike at goal from 20 yards and it takes a deflection off Barreiro before finding the side-netting. That was a close one.
76'

FRESH LEGS

A change in attack for Cologne as Arokodare comes on for Andersson for these final 15 minutes.
73'

THE MIDFIELD RUNNERS

Skhiri and Barreiro have had a real battle in midfield, not least to see who can run the most in the game.

HERE COME MAINZ

The away side have been quiet for most of this second half but Onisiwo's equaliser has sparked them back into life. Now the pressure is on the Cologne defence. This could be won by either team.
69'

NEXT CHANGE

Fresh legs into midfield for Cologne with Rexhbecaj on for Duda.

ANOTHER TWIST!

We still have over 20 minutes to play here in Cologne and this huge game at the bottom of the table is taking every twist and turn.
65'

ONISIWO ON THE BREAK!

Mainz are level again and it comes against the run of play. Mwene sends Boetius in down the left and he adds to his earlier goal with a supreme assist, finding Onisiwo at the back post with a low cross which is slid home by the German forward. We have a game on our hands, people!

AS THINGS STAND

Cologne's lead means there is just a single point between Mainz in 17th and Hertha in 14th. The relegation battle is going to go down to the wire.

COLOGNE MOOD!

The hosts have deservedly turned this game on its head to spice up the relegation battle once again.
61'

SKHIRI WITH THE GOAL!

That had been coming and Cologne are deservedly in front midway through the second half. It's a free-kick from Hector which curls into the area and just goes beyond Czichos on the stretch, but Skhiri is all alone at the back post to head home, with Zentner only able to deflect it into his own goal.

WOLF OFF THE BAR!

What a chance for Cologne to take the lead and what a reaction save from Zentner. It's Duda who crosses to the near post from the right and Wolf meets it on the run, glancing the ball at goal. Zentner is there to push the ball up and onto his crossbar and out. A big moment there!
55'

BURKARDT COMES OFF

We had a delay to the game there of about four minutes while Burkardt had treatment. It was a stray and unintentional elbow which caught the German, and he's replaced by Szalai.
51'

BURKARDT DOWN

The Mainz forward has stayed down after a heavy challenge in the air with Mere while attempting to get onto Mwene's cross. He is going to have to come off here with the injury looking serious.
48'

ALMOST FOR JAKOBS

The substitutes combine down the left as Horn slides in a pass for Jakobs to chase into the Mainz area, but Zentner is off his line quickly. The substitutions mean Kainz has swapped to the right wing and Wolf has moved back to right-back.

BIG CHANCE FOR BARREIRO!

Mwene's cross from the left wing takes a deflection on the way into the Cologne area and diverts the ball away from Horn and into Barreiro's path in front of goal. He gets to it first, but Horn is off his line quickly to block the shot away from close range.
43'

DUDA LEVELS IT UP!

Duda with his fifth goal of the season as he squeezes home his spot-kick. Zentner went the right way and got a hand to the penalty as well, but it wasn't enough to keep the ball from finding the bottom corner. A crucial goal for Cologne just before the break!

KATTERBACH BOOKED

The next yellow card for Cologne as Katterbach brings down Onisiwo.
32'

COLOGNE THE BETTER SIDE

The hosts have had nine attempts to Mainz's two, as well as the majority of the possession to go with it. But the only thing that matters at the moment is that Mainz are ahead. Despite their chances and good play, Cologne have still to fully test Zentner.

DUDA BOOKED

The first yellow card of the game is handed to Duda, for a foul on Barreiro. That's him suspended for Cologne's game against Bayer Leverkusen next weekend.

ANDERSSON AGAIN!

It really should be 1-1 here at the very least, as Andersson latches onto a long ball again - this time from Kainz on the left. His control is perfect on his chest but he waits to pull the trigger with his shot. Niakhate makes a challenge but Andersson does still get a shot away, only to see it dart wide past the Mainz goal. Two big chances there in the matter of a minute.
19'

BIG CHANCE FOR ANDERSSON!

A long ball forward from Mere finds Andersson on the wrong side of St. Juste, and he turns well onto his right foot before firing a shot at goal. The ball drags just wide bouncing beyond Zentner. Cologne fans will be buzzing to see the Swede back and starting again.

MAINZ'S REMARKABLE TURNAROUND

On Matchday 20, Mainz sat eight points behind Cologne at the bottom of the table. Seven games later, they have a two-point advantage and with this lead, would go five points clear of the Billy Goats.
11'

BOETIUS FIRES MAINZ AHEAD!

The first shot on goal of the game for Mainz and it's the opening goal. The away side fly forward after winning the ball back in the Cologne have and it's Barreiro who slides the ball across the area for Boetius, who side-foots the ball in off the crossbar past Horn from the edge of the penalty area. A fantastic finish for his 1st goal of the season!

FINDING THEIR FEET

Both sides making fine starts to this game, with Cologne having a touch more of the early possession and that earlier chance through Duda. So far, Onisiwo and Burkardt have been kept quiet at the other end.
2'

EARLY CHANCE!

Cologne break down the left and a dinked ball into the middle meets Duda in front of goal, but his volley floats over the Mainz goal. A bright start from the home side.

HERE WE GO!

We're underway in a rainy Cologne for this huge game at the bottom of the Bundesliga table...
キックオフ

A REAL RELEGATION SIX-POINTER

Just two points separate these two sides in 17th and 16th in the Bundesliga. This season the Billy Goats have won three of their five meetings against sides below 14th, including a 1-0 win in Mainz. Cologne have won only one home game this term, picking up just eight points out of a possible 39. However, they have never lost at home to Mainz.

WHAT'S AT STAKE FOR MAINZ?

For the ZeroFivers, the reality is very similar to that of Cologne but their recent form has been almost the opposite. Bo Svensson's side are unbeaten in four games, winning two of those to push themselves about Cologne and into the relegation play-off spot.

WHAT'S AT STAKE FOR COLOGNE?

The Billy Goats are without a win in seven Bundesliga matches, in which time they have picked up just two points. It means they are stuck right in the middle of the relegation battle and crucially, two points behind Mainz coming into this weekend.

WATCH: MAINZ 0-1 COLOGNE - REVERSE FIXTURE

Elvis Rexhbecaj was the hero when these sides met back in December...

COLOGNE TEAM NEWS

A creative player like Meyer would've been pushing for a recall as a result, but the January signing from Crystal Palace will have to make his mark from the bench. Andersson and Kainz returned from injury as substitutes against Wolfsburg and both start today. Markus Gisdol also has a further option in defence, with Bornauw finally over a back problem and among the subs.

MAINZ TEAM NEWS

Both Brosinski and substitute da Costa picked up ankle injuries last time out. Da Costa has recovered swiftly though and - given how much of an impact he's made since joining on loan from Frankfurt - is restored to the starting XI. Mainz will take all the help they can get, knowing that a third win in four away matches could make all the difference to their survival chances.
