CORDOBA SEALS THE WIN
The counter-attack is in full force again as Maier sends Leckie in behind. He plays it across and Cordoba provides a tidy finish.
FÜLLKRUG VOLLEY SAVED
Great strike from the substitute who collects a loose ball after Sargent's aerial challenge of a long ball into the Hertha box. Schwolow is well-placed to save it, though.
Despite Selke's goal, Hertha are looking comfortable and on course for victory as the minutes tick on in Bremen. Chances few and far between in the last 10 minutes.
Leckie, Maier and Zeefuik (debut) all on for Hertha providing fresh legs in the final minutes.
INTO THE FINAL 10...
If there is another goal in this game, it has to come for Bremen for us to see any late drama...
CUNHA WORKING HARD

BREMEN PILING ON THE PRESSURE
A cross into the Hertha box isn't dealt with by the away side's defence as Schwolow challenges Sargent in the air. Selke collects possession and spots Bittencourt in space at the opposite post, but his header is off target.
BOYATA HEADS OVER
The Hertha centre-back meets the ensuing corner but can't find the target with his header from close range.
CORDOBA ALMOST WITH THE FOURTH
The debutant slips away from the Bremen defence and is in on goal, with only Pavlenka to beat. He runs at goal from an angle having started on the left wing and looks towards the far post, but Pavlenka responds with a good save.
SELKE GIVES BREMEN HOPE!
With 20 minutes to play, Bremen have one goal back. It's the former Hertha striker Davie Selke who meets Augustinsson's cross from the left. Selke leaps so high above Mittelstädt that only one man was going to win the header, and he buries it beyond Schwolow at his near post.

CUNHA MAKES IT THREE!
Another counter-attacking goal as Cordoba holds up the ball and finds Darida in midfield. He plays the ball across to the left and Cunha in the Bremen box and he shoots first-time at goal. It's straight at Pavlenka, but he can't handle it and the ball bounces through him and into the back of the net.
DEBUT FOR CORDOBA
He's had just two days of training after his move on Wednesday and is on now to make his debut. Cordoba on for Piatek.
CUNHA WITH A SHOT
The first attacking move from Hertha in the second half that brings an effort on goal. Tousart finds Cunha on the edge of the Bremen box. He looks for passing options but decides to go for goal with space afforded to him, but his shot is straight down the throat of Pavlenka.

BREMEN ON TOP
The home side are pressing hard and forcing mistakes from Hertha. Bittencourt has another go at goal but this one is tamer.
BITTENCOURT SHOT DEFLECTED
The half-time substitute takes aim from range and his shot takes a touch from Boyata, but Schwolow is able to make a comfortable save down low to his right. A positive start to the second half from Bremen here.
The Bremen midfielder is the first player to be cautioned after a foul on Darida.
SECOND HALF UNDERWAY!
One change at the break for the home side as Bittencourt is on in place of Osako for Bremen. Can they answer back after what was a positive first half performance, that had a disappointing ending for the home side.

DODI BEFORE THE BREAK!
Hertha win the ball in midfield and Darida brings it forward before playing a pin-perfect pass for Lukebakio to latch onto into the Bremen box. One touch and a BANG of a shot at the near post leaves Pavlenka with no chance.
VAR: NO PENALTY
The foul took place outside of the box, according to Video-Assist and Hertha have now been awarded a free-kick.
The away side have been awarded a spot-kick after a foul from Friedl on Pekarik. It will be checked by Video-Assist.

PEKARIK OPENS THE SCORING!
An unlikely first scorer for Hertha as Mittaelstädt fires in a beautiful low cross, which bounces across the face of goal and isn't dealt with by the Bremen defence. It runs to the back post where Pekarik has made the run to meet it and slot the ball home.
SELKE ON TARGET
Once again Chong is causing problems for Hertha as he breaks through midfield. He's brought down and a free-kick is about to be given, but the loose ball comes Selke's way but his shot at goal is a tame one.

SARGENT HAS A GO!
The best chance of the game so far for the home side as the USMNT forward collects possession on the left corner of Hertha's box from Osako and fires a shot at the near post past Boyata. Debutant Schwolow is on hand to parry it away.
THE BATTLE CONTINUES
WARNING FOR TORUNARIGHA
The Hertha centre-back is given a warning after a foul on Chong as he pushed towards the Hertha penalty area. He's having a good first half on debut.
A KNOCK FOR MITTELSTÄDT
The Hertha left-back should be able to continue after taking a hit to his right knee in a challenge with Chong.
CHONG ON THE BREAK
Bremen push forward on a counter-attack lead by Selke. He plays Chong in on the right and he shoots at the near post, but the Hertha defence is back in place to block his effort.
PIATEK HITS THE BAR!
The best chance for either side of opening the scoring as Piatek rises high in the box to meet Pekarik's cross from the right. He beats two Bremen defenders to the ball, but can only watch as his looping header bounces out off the upright.
CHONG LOOKING BRIGHT
The Dutchman, born in Curacao, has made a good start here for Bremen. Operating from the right wing, the two-footed playmaker has been cutting inside onto his left foot more often than not with both dribbles and long passes aplenty. A welcome addition to the Bremen attack so far.

KLAASSEN FIRES WIDE
The first real effort on goal of the day comes from the Bremen midfielder. He catches the ball on the volley after a free-kick was cleared to the edge of the Hertha box, but dragged his effort wide.
The home side have kept their visitors penned in their own half in the last couple of minutes. Eggestein and Klaassen controlling the play in midfield while Selke is working hard in attack. A bright start, and the fans are showing appreciation for their efforts.
HERTHA ENJOYING THE BALL
4-1-2-1-2 FOR HERTHA
It's Piatek and Lukebakio leading the line for Hertha, with Cunha and Tousart in closest supporting, with Stark sitting deep in midfield in front of a four-man defence. Both sides enjoying some early spells of possession so far.
OSAKO SUPPORTING SELKE
The Japanese international is supporting lone striker Selke today, with Chong on the right wing and Sargent out on the left.
AWAY WE GO!
The 8,500 Bremen fans have just belted out the home side's pre-match song and we're underway in the sunshine.
KICK-OFF FAST APPROACHING!
Get your snacks and drinks ready, sort out your seat in front of the TV or laptop and settle in for Bremen vs. Hertha as we continue the first weekend of the new Bundesliga season. Five games are happening this afternoon across the German top-flight league, so plenty of football to enjoy throughout.
A RARE WINNER TODAY?
In the previous six meetings between these two sides, five matches have ended in draws. Bremen's last win came at home in September 2018, while Hertha's most recent victory over today's hosts came way back in December 2013. Will Hertha write the wrongs of the last seven years today?
HERTHA'S CUP DEFEAT
Hertha Berlin were on the wrong side of the biggest shock of the DFB Cup first round over last weekend. The Bundesliga side came up against promoted Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig, and despite playing their role in an incredible nine-goal thriller, came out on the losing side despite scoring four times. Labbadia will be making sure his players are ready for an even tougher test today against Bremen.
SARGENT'S VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
In the build-up to the new season, Bremen coach Kohfeldt said he "can't imagine a Bundesliga starting XI without Josh Sargent" - after the 20-year-old scored three goals in four pre-season games for Bremen as well as in the DFB Cup first round, who can blame him. Scoring goals was the Green-Whites' major problem last season having scored just 42 last campaign, the fourth-lowest across the league. With Sargent, Selke, Osako and Chong all starting, they certainly have the ability to find the back of the net now.
FANS BACK IN BREMEN
In all but two Bundesliga stadiums across the opening weekend, fans will be in attendance to support their teams. Sadly, at this point, only home fans are allowed in and with a limited number. Today, 8,500 Bremen fans will be in the Weser-Stadion with some already arriving with their first chance to see their team in the flesh in a Bundesliga game since March.
