Will the goal streak end?
Hannover have scored in each of their previous 10 Bundesliga 2 matches; the last time 96 failed to score was on 4 April in the 1-0 defeat at Karlsruhe.

Great comeback
Schuler had been nursing a hip injury for a long time, but tonight he's made his first appearance since early April and now scored with his third touch of the ball in this match.

Hertha put it to bed!
Five minutes after coming on as a substitute, Schuler keeps his cool and finishes on the end of a brilliant cross from Cuisance from the left side with a first-time strike with his right foot into the far corner!

Too unselfish!
It's a huge chance for Hertha to settle the match. Sessa sprints half the length of the pitch towards Noll, but then tries to lay it off for Grönning, however Tomiak is there to intercept.

Hertha come back again
Krattenmacher, who has just been substituted on, looks for a recipient in the centre with a low pass, but doesn't find one.
86'
Off target
Leopold blasts a free-kick from a promising position – centrally in front of the opposition goal – into the vastness of the Hannover night sky.
84'
Hannover demand a penalty
The ball strikes Dárdai on the arm, which is by his side, in the box after a corner. The referee immediately signals that that was not enough.
84'
Clear foul
Leistner goes into the challenge with Neubauer with a straight leg and subsequently sees yellow.

Unusually leaky defence
Hannover have conceded two goals in a competitive match for the first time under manager Christian Titz.
74'
Hertha aren't finished there
The visitors continue to play forward, with Hannover offering less and less at the moment. The newly substituted Sessa tries a powerful low shot from the edge of the penalty area, but a Hannover defender throws himself in front of the shot.
72'
Hertha go to the bench now
Alongside Jensen, the scorer of the second, Dawid Kownacki, also leaves the pitch. Sessa and Grönning come on for the last 20 minutes.
70'
Ice-cold
Kownacki has only had possession of the ball 18 times this match, but with these he's scored a goal and provided an assist. These were his first two goal involvements for Hertha.
69'
Titz reacts again
His substitutes so far have not made an impact. Now Aseko Nkili has to make way for Taibi.
68'
Kownacki doubles the lead!
After a Hertha switch of play to the left wing, Reese has plenty of time, which he uses brilliantly to deliver a perfectly-timed cross into the penalty area, where Kownacki rises highest and heads in to make it 2-0 to the visitors!
67'
Sprinter Winkler
The goalscorer has already made 13 sprints (more than any other Hertha player) - including in the build-up to the opening goal.
66'
Another yellow card
Tomiak uses a high boot to try to nick the ball from Kownacki in midfield, but only catches the foot of the Hertha player.

The substitutes are coming on
And as we know, they have been quite impactful for Hannover this season. Especially Källman, who already has three goals to his name as a substitute.

0:33
Almost 2-0!
58'
No need to panic... yet
As recently as the previous matchday in Kiel, Hannover managed to come from 1-0 behind to win 2-1 in the end.
56'
Goal drought ended
In the previous four competitive matches, Leitl's team hadn't managed to find the net. For Hertha, a streak of 441 competitive match minutes without scoring a goal has finally come to an end.
56'
It's getting heated
Aseko Nkili confronts Cuisance after a challenge. He also receives a booking for this.
54'
Wrapped up
Chakroun tries to get round Eitschberger with a quick move, but the Berlin player doesn't seem to like that at all, and wraps his arms around the Hannover player until the referee blows the whistle and punishes the action with a yellow card.
51'
Winkler snatches the lead for Hertha!
From the very first whistle, Hertha have been looking to utilise counter-attacks - and finally it pays off! Kownacki shifts the ball low to the left side, where Winkler purposefully moves towards the ball, which completely overwhelms Matsuda. He turns and falls, giving the Hertha player a clear path to shoot and Winkler easily slots it into the bottom left corner. No chance for Noll.
49'
Misplaced again
It's as if Hannover are cursed. Once again, Pichler would have had space inside off the left flank in front of the opposition's goal, had Aseko Nkili's pass into the final third reached him and hadn't been overcooked.
47'
Hertha defenders stay switched-on
Hannover establish themselves in the final third of Berlin's half following a free-kick from near the right flank. Substitute Chakroun looks for a finish, but as has been the case so often this evening, a defensive leg is there to deflect it away.
46'
Back underway!
The ball is rolling again. Hannover coach Titz opts to bring on Chakroun for fresh attacking impetus in the second half - he replaces Rochelt.

Half-time: Hannover 0-0 Hertha
Among other things, thanks to Ghiță's header just before the half-time whistle, Hannover have now amassed an xG value of 1.3, so they may feel hard done by that they've not managed to take any advantage in at the break. Hertha's 0.34 xG, on the other hand, is a fair representation of how the Berliners have been in front of goal thus far.

Noll with little to do
The Hannover keeper has not yet faced a shot on his goal, while his counterpart Tjark Ernst has been tested three times.

Cleared off the line!
36'
Too unselfish?
Neubauer is surrounded by several Hertha players, but he still has enough space around him to go for a shot. However, he decides to play a square pass to Pichler, who is even more tightly marked. His shot attempt is blocked.
34'
First booking
Winkler goes down too easily in a challenge with Ghiță in the referee's view and is shown the yellow card.
32'
Another example
Again, the 96ers play it out from the back well. Pichler receives the ball from Neubauer after he ran all the way to the byline. From there, the ball is meant to find a recipient at the penalty spot, but it only finds a player in blue-and-white.
30'
Overhit
Bundus pass into the final third is unreachable for Rochelt and symbolic of many of Hannover's attacks this half: The final pass is failing to find its target too often.
29'
Kownacki not yet making an impact
The Hertha striker has only been on the ball three times (all other players more often) and has not been directly involved in any shots on goal.
26'
Down the right
After a solo run into the visitors' penalty area, Matsuda looks for a shot from a tight angle, but a defender's leg deflects the ball for the hosts' fourth corner. This one also poses no danger.

Hertha on the counter!
Finally, the Berliners manage to get a moment of relief! They win the ball in midfield, then play it very quickly to the left side to Reese, who looks for a shot from outside the penalty area. However, his effort ends up a few yards wide of Noll's goal.
20'
Industrious Hertha
The Berliners are on par with the typically hard-running Hannover players in terms of distance covered so far, and have also won 58 per cent of the duels.
18'
96 on top
According to the possession statistics, both teams have had equal shares of the ball so far, but it feels like Hannover is clearly setting the tone in the opening phases. Once again, they manage to get into Hertha's penalty area following a free-kick, but the visitors just about manage to prevent Bundu's finish.

Space for Neubauer
Once again, the Lower Saxony side attack down their strong left flank – this time with Neubauer, who delivers a cross into the centre. Pichler makes an excellent run in behind Dárdai, leaving the Hertha defender with no choice but to clear the ball over the crossbar with a sliding tackle, which he executes perfectly, despite the risk.

Pichler!
8'
Hertha fight back
For the first time, Hertha show themselves in opposition territory. A switch of play finds Reese, who wants to deliver first-time with his left foot into the centre, but Kownacki was just a step too slow. Another cross shortly after then also doesn't quite find his head.
5'
First chance goes Hannover's way
In the opening minutes, the 96ers immediately show why they are at the top of Bundesliga 2! Rochelt receives the ball from Pichler, drives into the left side of the penalty area and beats Leistner. However, his subsequent shot towards the near post is too weak to trouble Hertha keeper Ernst.
4'
Bogged down
Aseko Nkili also tries to dribble his way through the Hertha defensive line, but runs straight into Leistner.
2'
Attack thwarted
Rochelt immediately engages in a foot race with Eitschberger down the left flank, but loses out to the Berlin player who sticks his leg in and clears the ball out into touch.
1'
Kick-off!
The ball is rolling in Hannover. It's the visitors from Berlin who have got things underway.

Change of system
After the 2-0 defeat against Elversberg, Stefan Leitl is expected to switch from a back three to a back four in defence. Coincidentally, last season, Leitl also switched from a back four to a back three following a 4-0 defeat at Elversberg (Matchday 24).
Hertha with significantly experience
Hertha's starting line-up has a clear advantage in terms of the number of second division matches (896) and second division goals (104) compared to Hannover (432 second division matches, 51 second division goals).
Historic debut
Kennet Eichhorn is in the starting line-up for Hertha for the first time. He already became the youngest second division player of all time when he came on as a substitute against Karlsruhe on Matchday 2, and now at 16 years and 48 days, he is also the youngest player to have ever started a Bundesliga 2 match in the division's history. As a result, he steals the crown from Regensburg's Ben Kieffer, who was 17 years and 55 days old on Matchday 29 of last season.
Hertha team news
Stefan Leitl makes three changes to his side which lost 2-0 at home to Elversberg last time out. Eichhorn, Winkler and Kownacki start in place of Gechter (serving a suspension), Krattenmacher and Thorsteinsson (both benched).
Hannover team news
Christian Titz fields the same starting eleven for the third consecutive match.

Leitl's Hannover history
The last encounter between these sides in Hannover on 22 December 2024 (0-0 draw) was also Stefan Leitl's final match as manager of the 96ers. He was in charge of Hannover for 89 competitive matches (34 wins, 25 draws, 30 defeats).
The Old Lady likes Hannover
Hertha lost only one of their last 11 competitive matches against Hannover (three wins, seven draws), and have picked up points in eight of their last nine away games in Lower Saxony.
The last second division victory
In Bundesliga 2, the last time one team emerged victorious in this fixture was all the way back in 1995/96, when Hertha won 4-1 at home in April 1996, while last Hannover triumphed at home 1-0 on 23 September 1995 (goal from Christof Babatz, when Egon Coordes was Hannover's manager).
At a stalemate
The last five encounters between Hannover and Hertha (four times in Bundesliga 2, one in the Bundesliga) have all ended in draws, with the last winner in this fixture coming in 2018, when Hertha won 2-0 away in the Bundesliga in December. Earlier that year though, in May, Hannover won 3-1 at home, with Niclas Füllkrug among the scorers.
