A rare stalemate?

None of Darmstadt's last 22 Bundesliga 2 matches have ended goalless. Their last stalemate in the league was at home to Preußen Münster in November last year.

Few clear-cut openings

The second period has been less eventful than the first, but there's still time for one of these teams to snatch all three points.

Linesman's flag denies Krattenmacher!

Another brilliant move by the visitors. A long pass finds Fabian Reese, who lays the ball off to Dawid Kownacki in the penalty area. The striker then lays it off to Maurice Krattenmacher, who finds the net from close range - but Kownacki was offside in the build-up. No goal!

Throw-in threat

Time to catch our breath! It remains goalless, but there has been no shortage of entertainment at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor. Both teams have had opportunities, but Hertha will be disappointed not to have got their noses in front.

Almost 1-0 Hertha

Akiyama and Papela in for hosts

Florian Kohfeldt makes two alterations to the Darmstadt side that overcame Lübeck in the cup last weekend, as Hiroki Akiyama and Merveille Papela replace Matej Maglica and Luca Merseiler.

Four changes for Hertha

Stefan Leitl makes four changes to the Hertha side that started the penalty shoot-out victory over Preußen Münster in the DFB Cup. Bayern Munich loanee Maurice Krattenmacher comes in alongside Niklas Kolbe, Leon Jensen and Deyovaisio Zeefuik, with Márton Dárdai, Kevin Sessa, Marten Winkler and Dawid Kownacki dropping to the bench.

Hertha signs goalkeeper talent

Konstantin Heide moves from SpVgg Unterhaching in the Regionalliga Bayern to Hertha BSC in the 2. Bundesliga. The 19-year-old U19 national goalkeeper has signed a contract with the capital city club until 2028.

Florian Kohfeldt on Hertha

"Hertha are clear promotion favourites - and that's how they see themselves too. And they want to underpin that here against us on Sunday. Overall, Hertha have players in their ranks that other second-division clubs simply cannot afford. They also have a very good head coach in Stefan Leitl, whom I hold in high regard."

Stefan Leitl on Darmstadt

"Everyone knows that Darmstadt have very high quality in individual positions. But they've also had phases in their game recently that weren't so good. If they give us these phases, we must exploit them."

Leitl's teams suit Kohfeldt

Florian Kohfeldt has secured three wins and one draw in four managerial encounters against Stefan Leitl.

Can Hertha find an elusive Bundesliga 2 away win?

Hertha have won four of their last five competitive matches at the Böllenfalltor, two each in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, but they've never managed an away win against Darmstadt in Bundesliga 2, drawing twice and losing five times.

It's been a while

Hertha's last victory against Darmstadt was a 2-0 away win in the DFB Cup in October 2018, when Vedad Ibišević and Maximilian Mittelstädt scored were the scorers. Their last Bundesliga 2 victory against the Lilies was a 1-0 win in Berlin in February 1993, when Mario Basler and Niko Kovač were still playing for the capital club.

Lidberg loves the Old Lady

Darmstadt collected four points against Hertha last season, with Isac Lidberg scoring once in both the 3-1 home victory and the 1-1 draw in Berlin.

This is how the last encounter went

It finished all square the last time these two faced each other, with Aleksandar Vukotić's own goal seeing three points slip away from Darmstadt.
