A third!
Elversberg have surely secured the points. Şahin drives forward and serves Zimmerschied, who doesn't hesitate on the edge of the penalty area and strikes crisply into the corner.

Long-range specialists
For Elversberg, that was their 14th long-range goal of the season - no other team has scored more than nine times from outside the penalty area.
52'
Equaliiiiser!
When it doesn't work out through open play, a set-piece can do the trick - and what a set-piece it is to bring Elversberg back level! A corner from the right is taken short before Baum receives the ball in space in behind. He sets himself up and then blasts it with full force into the top-right corner. Reichert stretches, but cannot prevent the ball from hitting the back of the net.
49'
Volley!
Drexler hits the outside of the post from a corner. That was close...

Good omen for Elversberg?
Nuremberg have already squandered a lead eight times this season. Last time out, even a 3-0 lead wasn't enough for the Club to secure victory against Düsseldorf as it ended 3-3.

No rotation this time
Nuremberg make no changes to their starting line-up for only the second time in the second half of the season. Previously this calendar year 2025, this only happened on Matchday 22 for the 2-0 home victory against Ulm.
Nuremberg unchanged
The Club manager Miroslav Klose sends out the same starting eleven that began in the 3-3 draw in Düsseldorf on the last matchday.
Will starter Sickinger score again?
Carlo Sickinger sat on the bench for the full 90 minutes in Paderborn. However, in his last two starts, he scored one each occasion.
Elversberg make one change
Visiting coach Horst Steffen makes one change to his starting XI from the 1-1 draw in Paderborn - Carlo Sickinger comes in for Robin Fellhauer (suspended due to yellow cards).
Elversberg starting line-up
Kristof - Baum, Pinckert, Le Joncour, Neubauer - Sickinger, Şahin - Petkov, Damar, Zimmerschied - Asllani
Nuremberg starting XI
Reichert - Drexler, Knoche, Gruber - Janisch, Jander, Lubach, Danilo - Justvan - Emreli, Antiste
Horst Steffen's thoughts on facing Nuremberg
“Sunday’s going to be another exciting match, with a big crowd and Nuremberg’s anniversary celebrations adding to the occasion. We’re really looking forward to it and we want to prove ourselves on the road again. The reverse fixture was tough and took a lot out of us, so I’d say this one is a real 50-50 - either team could come out on top. We’re in good form, and Nuremberg will be eager to show what they can do at home, so it’s shaping up to be a great weekend of football.”
Miroslav Klose's thoughts on facing Elversberg
"We want to play a good match on Sunday and enjoy it. We need to do our part to make Sunday a beautiful day. Elversberg are a very fit team that demands a lot from their opponents. They also bring plenty of footballing quality. I believe it will be a really good match for the spectators."
Reunion with Feil
Manuel Feil moved from Nuremberg to Elversberg in 2018, but only played for their reserve team.
A duel in the DFB Cup
Another duel took place in 2010 in the DFB Cup when Nuremberg were playing three divisions above Elversberg (Bundesliga versus Regionalliga) and won convincingly 3-0 at the Kaiserlinde (Goals: Javier Pinola, Julian Schieber, Timmy Simons – Ilkay Gündogan sat on the bench for 90 minutes for Nuremberg).
Victory for Survival
Nuremberg have won the last three competitive matches between the two, all of them clean sheets. Last season, the Club won 1-0 away and secured their league survival with a 3-0 home victory on Matchday 33.
Recap
In the first leg, Elversberg fell behind to an early goal from Jens Castrop, but turned the match around thanks to a goal and assist from Muhammed Damar, and thus celebrated their first competitive victory against Nuremberg.
