Königsdörffer denied fourth goal!
Karabec crosses from the left byline behind his standing leg to Königsdörffer. He heads it just over the line, where Krahl arrives too late. However, the review of the goal reveals that Karabec was offside - it remains 3-0.
86'
Mikelbrencis!
Hamburg exploit the available space and counter-attack. Mikelbrencis approaches Krahl from the right, but the keeper prevents the 0-4 with an excellent save with his feet.

Sirch tries his luck
He plucks up courage and drives through the middle, but his shot from 18 metres goes just over the bar.
80'
First
For the 19-year-old Hamburg-born Baldé, it was his first goal in the Bundesliga 2. He had previously scored for the first team in the DFB Cup.
78'
Baldé strikes immediately!
Dream comeback for the man who had been out since December! Baldé dribbles into the penalty area on the right, dances past the passive Bauer into a shooting position, curls it with his left foot towards the near post - and clearly catches Krahl off guard - It's 3-0!
77'
Double substitution
Polzin's stand-in Favé grants well-deserved applause to double goalscorer Selke and assist provider Reis. Königsdörffer takes over up front and Richter in the number eight position.
73'
Reis!
Kaiserslautern are now taking more risks and lose the ball by the centre circle. Once again, the play goes quickly through Reis, who this time takes a shot himself, but his poorly placed attempt doesn't get past Krahl.
72'
Number 50
The 2-0 was the 50th goal of the season for the league's best attack.
70'
Top performance
Mebude made a good impression in his starting eleven debut and is now being replaced by Baldé on the right wing.
69'
Selke strikes again
The summer signing from Cologne has now scored Hamburg's last five goals.
67'
Double substitution
Anfang is frustrated and responds with personnel changes. Redondo and Hanslik are brought on to provide more finishing prowess up front than Ache and Kaloc.
65'
Selke! 2-0!
Now Selke's second goal counts! Reis dribbles down the right, gets past two defenders and serves Selke at the edge of the box at the perfect moment. With his first touch, Hamburg's goalscorer finishes coolly into the left corner. Season goal number 16!
61'
No shot
Lautern enter the Hamburg penalty area twice, but fail to get a shot off. Ache misses a cross from the left half-space by a boot's length.
58'
First Yellow
During a Kaiserslautern free-kick at the halfway line, Mebude doesn't move away from the ball, gets hit by Ritter's shot, and receives the first yellow card of the match.
56'
Dompé!
Hamburg are going for it and Dompé steps up. The Belgian dribbles from the left towards the centre and shoots with his right foot - one and a half metres over the bar.
53'
Selke! Offside
Kaiserslautern lose the ball in the middle of Hamburg's half. Dompé is unstoppable on the left, serving a low cross from the wing into the six-yard box where Selke is lurking and scores! However, the joy over the brace is short-lived: Selke was clearly offside when Dompé made the pass - the goal doesn't count.

Half-time in Hamburg
The top match took a while to warm up. The three best chances came from the 42nd minute onwards: Selke scored, Wekesser and Sirch missed - but they should have realised that there could still be plenty to play for after the restart.

Wekesser! Unbelievable!
Almost immediately after, the impressive Wekesser produces a scene for the end-of-year highlights: Following Yokota's strong run down the right, he puts the latter's inch-perfect cross wide of the empty net on the left!
42'
Selke! 1-0!
Three minutes before half-time, Hamburg's plan pays off: This time, Mikelbrencis cuts inside and delivers the cross with his left foot. This creates space for Selke in the centre, which he uses to control the ball with his chest and then poke it past Krahl from the left-hand side of the box. Hamburg take the lead!
40'
Courage gathered
The visitors realise: There might be an opportunity here. After Wekesser's next advance on the left, Kaloc gets a shot off at the edge of the penalty area - wide to the left.
38'
Wekesser!
Out of the blue, a golden opportunity for the Red Devils: Wekesser appears in the left side of the six-yard box and, under pressure, heads the ball narrowly wide of the left post.

Mebude plays it across...
...when he could have taken the shot himself! Mebude's unselfish but imprecise lay-off at least leads to another corner - which Krahl easily plucks out of the air.
28'
Indecisive
After a cross strongly intercepted by Krahl, a Lautern counter-attack develops. Yokota dribbles down the right, but slows the pace somewhat and then plays the through ball without the necessary conviction, and a Hamburg shirt intervenes.
26'
Dangerous!
Muheim breaks through on the left, delivers a low and sharp cross. Elvedi slides in for the ball and produces a lob that nearly finds the far corner. However, it's only a corner, from which Hamburg once again fails to capitalise.

Following the next Muheim corner from the right, Dompé gets the ball at the edge of the penalty area, takes a risk, and doesn't strike it cleanly.
20'
Corner for Lautern
Ache now wins the first corner for the visitors on the left against Hadžikadunić. Wekesser's delivery from the left finds Ache, whose header takes a dangerous deflection off Kaloc - but Heuer Fernandes is alert and manages to hold onto the first shot on target.
18'
Selke again - Krahl again!
Hamburg's plan is obvious: Mikelbrencis crosses early from the right again, Selke wins the ball fairly this time, heads powerfully towards goal, but Krahl manages to defuse this attempt with another flying save.
15'
Selke!
This time Mikelbrencis' cross from the right reaches masked man Selke (cheekbone fracture). He heads it towards goal, but is denied by Krahl - however, he had been overzealous in the challenge beforehand, resulting in a free kick for Lautern.

Wekesser!
Lautern start quickly. Ritter's long ball from the right lands on the left wing with Wekesser. He takes a shot from far out, sending the first attempt of the match over the bar.

Kick-off!
Hamburg kick off, playing in their familiar white, red, and blue home kit. Kaiserslautern are in opposition, wearing red shirts and white shorts.
キックオフ
Onto the pitch
The teams enter the pitch at the Volksparkstadion. The home fans greet them with a choreography that spans the entire North Stand. The message: 'The mission continues, the goal is clear' - above it, an ascending space shuttle.
Polzin out
Hamburg must do without their head coach at short notice. Merlin Polzin is absent due to illness and will be represented by his assistant Loic Favé.
Starting XI debut
Adedire Mebude starts for the first time for Hamburg. The Scottish winter signing has only played five minutes for Hamburg so far (substituted on against Hannover).
Captain on the bench
Sebastian Schonlau has to settle for a substitute role today, with Daniel Elfadli taking his place in the team. Additionally, Mikelbrencis replaces Hefti, Reis comes in for Richter, Karabec starts instead of Königsdörffer, and Mebude replaces Sahiti, who is suspended due to a second yellow card, in the starting lineup.
Five changes versus no changes
Both teams drew their last matches, but the managers have drawn very different conclusions: Markus Anfang keeps his team unchanged for the first time since November 2024, while Merlin Polzin makes more changes than ever before this season! There are five changes to the starting lineup, the most for Hamburg since October 2022.
And this is how Kaiserslautern lines up:
Krahl - Elvedi, Sirch, Bauer - Gyamerah, Breithaupt, Wekesser - Ritter (c), Kaloc - Yokota, Ache
The Hamburg starting lineup is here:
Heuer Fernandes - Mikelbrancis, Hadžikadunić, Elfadli, Muheim - Meffert - Reis, Karabec - Mebude, Dompé - Selke
What Merlin Polzin has said
"The team structure at Kaiserslautern is very stable. They are the most in-form team in the league and have strengthened enormously during the winter break. Marlon Ritter can make the difference at any second of the match, and they are also unpredictable in attack. Nevertheless, we want to impose our game and win with the support of our fans, that's clear."
What Markus Anfang has said
"The duel between HSV and FCK has often taken place in the Bundesliga. But we must focus on the current situation and that also promises a very interesting match. HSV is well-positioned, has a top-class team. They play good football and have a lot of quality individuals."
Way back when
Kaiserslautern's last away win at the Volksparkstadion was 24 years ago. In August 2001, FCK won 3-2 under Andy Brehme, after leading 3-0 inside the first half-hour. Since then, there have been six HSV victories and two draws in eight encounters at the Volksparkstadion.
Clash of Tradition and Trophy Collectors
HSV and FCK have collectively been crowned German champions 10 times and lifted the DFB Cup six times between them.
History really does favour Hamburg
There have been 98 competitive matches between HSV and FCK so far, 88 of them in the Bundesliga. Hamburg are clear leaders in top-flight meetings, with 44 wins for HSV, 25 draws, and 29 wins for FCK. However, in Bundesliga 2, the record is even: one win each and three draws in five matches.
What speaks for Hamburg
HSV have lost only one of their last twelve competitive matches against Kaiserslautern (0-2 away at FCK on 15 April 2023, with Hamburg-born former HSV player Aaron Opoku among the scorers).
