What an unbelievable game of football! A historic night in the Bundesliga as the game finishes 4-4 with all of the goals coming in the first half. Stuttgart twice came from behind, first from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 and then from 3-2 down to lead 4-3, but Ilić's second on the stroke of half time proved to be the final goal of the game for 4-4. In comparison, the second half was quiet as Stuttgart dominated but were unable to create any real chances.

Despite having lost their last five Bundesliga home games, Stuttgart have only lost one of their previous five away games. Sebastian Hoeneß' men have also won their last four meetings with Union (three in the Bundesliga, one in the DFB Cup), so it's set to be another test for Steffen Baumgart's in-form Union.

Breathing room

Union already have more points at this stage in the season (34) than they managed in the entirety of the previous campaign (33). Against Stuttgart, they also have the chance to mathematically ensure their survival; something they only managed seconds before the end of last season. This is largely down to Union having the current longest unbeaten run in the Bundesliga (five games), having taken points off Leverkusen, Bayern, Frankfurt, Freiburg and Wolfsburg in that time.
