Conclusion

Huge celebrations in Regensburg! Thanks to an improved performance in the second half, Jahn Regensburg secure a crucial 2-1 victory against Nuremberg. After a good first half from the visitors, which was rewarded with the opening goal by Antiste, it was the impressive Ganaus who turned the match around and became the match-winner for the bottom-placed team. With an assist and a goal, he helped his side claim all three points, giving them renewed hope in their fight against relegation.

Promotion chance?

Victory would move Nuremberg up to fifth place, which would be the best position for Klose's team this season. Next week, there would then be a real top match against second-placed Hamburg.

Two up front

A second change for Jahn sees Eric Hottmann come in for Christian Viet, nominally making them much more offensive. Hottmann will likely form a strike partnership with Noah Ganaus.

Without Breunig

Regensburg must do without Louis Breunig for the first time this season. The youngster had started the first 26 matchdays. Robin Ziegele come into defence to replace him.

Tzimas absent

For the first time since September, Nuremberg must do without their top scorer Stefanos Tzimas. The recovered Jens Castrop come into the side to replace the Greek striker.

Miroslav Klose on facing Jahn

"We know that Regensburg have done well on their home ground. But despite the international break, we need to stay in our flow and want to secure three points. We'll have to invest a lot to achieve that."

TOGETHER! Stop Hate. Be a Team.

Draw guaranteed?

The last four encounters in Regensburg all ended in draws. Nuremberg last won away at Jahn in August 2017 (1-0), while Regensburg's last home victory dates back 21 years (2-1 on 2 April 2004).

Little to celebrate for Jahn

Regensburg have been without a win in five second-tier matches against Nuremberg and have only won one of their last eleven encounters against the Club (1-0 away in January 2021).

Historic goal fest in the first game

The first-round match in 2024/25 was a clear victory for the visitors, with spectators witnessing an 8-3 thriller. Only three matches in the Bundesliga 2 history saw more goals, the last being Kaiserslautern's 7-6 against Meppen in 1997. Nuremberg themselves had never scored as many goals in any of their 1,918 matches in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2.

Nuremberg's strong record

Derby time at the Jahnstadion! So far in 17 matches in the Bundesliga 2 between the two clubs, there have been nine Nuremberg victories, six draws, and Regensburg has won only twice. Even in other leagues and competitions, Jahn has almost always come up short.
