Aue have exited the competition in the first round four years in a row, a run they'll hope to end against Hoffenheim. Their last venture beyond the second round came in 2015/16, when they reached the round of 16. There they met Heidenheim, who beat them 2-0.

The Sinsheim outfit are big fans of the cup's round of 16 stage, reaching it in three of the last five seasons. After a second round exit to St. Pauli in 2025/26, they'll hope to go deeper into the tournament this time around.
