Who are Bahlinger SC?

Formed in 1929, Bahlinger have spent the entirety of their history playing in Germany's lower divisions, never featuring beyond the Regionalliga (the fourth tier). Their first-ever appearance at that level only came in 2014/15, too. They play at the Kaiserstuhl Stadium, which has a capacity of just over 4,000. Famous former players include Klaus Gjasula and Fabian Schleusener.

Bahlinger cup history

This is just the Oberliga outfit's fifth participation in this competition, albeit their second in succession following back-to-back South Baden titles. On their previous four appearances, they progressed beyond the first round only once, in 2002/03. Last season, they were beaten at the first hurdle by Heidenheim.

Magdeburg cup history

Magdeburg were four-time winners of the East German Cup, but have struggled to make an impact in this competition since reunification. Their best result came in 2000/01, when they reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by eventual winners Schalke. Last season, they reached the round of 16 before falling to RB Leipzig.
