Now it's Viking's turn

That red card has given Viking some confidence. Tripić whips in a teasing corner which is met by a Viking head, but Urbig is equal to it. However, had it gone in, it would have been ruled out for an offensive foul.

Bayern will want to see this game out now. As a result, Kompany brings on defensive reinforcements with Stanišić replacing Díaz.

Olise off!

The Frenchman is shown successive yellow cards in quick succession. First for a foul, and then for dissent.

Half-time

Half-time: Viking 2-0 Bayern Munich

Stensness headed the hosts into an early lead before Christiansen doubled his team's tally shortly before the break. Bayern's best chance arrived through Kane at 1-0 down, but the Englishman headed his effort straight at Østbø, who has had little to do. Kompany's side will have to come up with a new game plan for the second period.
45'

Into added time

The fourth official has signalled one additional minute at the end of the first half.
41'

No way through

Every player, bar Urbig, is in Viking's half. The hosts are defending in a low block, but Bayern are just unable to find a way through. Olise is seeing plenty of action on the left, but Viking are comfortable defensively in central areas.

Viking double their lead!

Viking win the ball back in their own penalty area and three passes later, Christiansen has the ball in the net with a neat finish past Urbig. A superb counter-attack from the hosts, who double their lead against Germany's record champions.
34'

Kane denied!

Wow! Kane will be disappointed not to have found the net there. Olise clips a beautiful cross towards the Englishman, who peels off his marker inside the six-yard box, but fires his header straight at Østbø.
32'

Half-chance for Viking

Viking have a free-kick in a dangerous position on the left. Tripić clips the ball in towards the near post, and it's flicked on but Urbig is alert to the situation. The referee, though, awards Bayern a free-kick, and the Germans are in possession again.
29'

Wide!

Bayern probe, and it eventually leads to Kimmich clipping the ball in towards the far post. Díaz lays the ball off for Bischof, who fires wide - but the referee brings play back for an offside.
25'

That could have been 2-0!

Karl loses the ball which leads to Viking working it well down the left. Coming out winners of a 3v2 situation Tripić - who progresses into Bayern's penalty area - slips at the crucial moment, just as he was about to hit it.

Bayern's dangerman

Viking are doubling up on Olise, with Tripić often tracking the Frenchman deep into Viking's own half.
20'

Fizzed in

Bayern work it from right to left this time, but Brown's whipped cross just evades Olise at the far post. Germany's record champions are piling on the pressure here.
16'

In search of a reply

It's all Bayern since they went behind. Viking are sitting in a low block, but Kompany's charges are unable to find a way through. They've registered eight shots since going behind, but they're mostly coming from distance and not troubling the Viking defence.
14'

Phwoar!

Díaz goes close with a curling effort from distance after cutting inside from the left, but Østbø is again alert to it, pushing the ball behind for a corner which is cleared.
10'

Olise denied!

The Frenchman steps up, unleashing a curling left-footed effort towards the top corner, but Østbø is equal to it in the Viking goal.
9'

Free-kick Bayern

Bayern again getting a lot of joy down the right. Olise, Laimer and Karl are creating neat triangles in tight spaces, and it leads to a free-kick on the corner of the penalty area after the Frenchman was brought down.
6'

Karl!

It's lovely intricate play from Bayern. They work it well from a central position to the right, where they have an overload. Karl, playing as the No.10, cuts inside before bending his effort over the crossbar.
3'

Bayern go close

Almost an instant reply from Bayern. Olise drives forward down the right and checks inside before playing in Laimer, whose deflected shot goes behind for a corner, which doesn't amount to anything.

Viking lead!

The high pressing has paid off! Tripić's outswinging corner is met in the air by Stensness, who guides his header low past Urbig.
1'

Quick start

The hosts are up for this one. They've pressed high and won an early corner...

Kick-off!

Moments away

The scene is set! Both teams emerge from the tunnel...

The countdown is on

We're 20 minutes away from a ball being kicked in Stavanger, as the teams make their way out for their warm-up.

Milestone alert

After being an unused substitute against Bodø/Glimt, Brown is making his Champions League debut for Bayern Munich tonight. The 23-year-old does have previous experience in the competition, though, having featured in all eight of Eintracht Frankfurt's European games last season.

Marvellous Olise

The Frenchman assisted Kane on Matchday 1 against Bodø/Glimt before adding a late brace. He will certainly fancy his chances of adding to his tally in this season's Champions League on what's a cold night in Norway.

More on that Viking team

The hosts name the same team that started in their 2-0 away win at Brann at the weekend.

More on that Bayern team

Kompany has made six changes to the team that drew 2-2 against Augsburg at the weekend. Urbig replaces Neuer in goal, and in comes Laimer, Kim, Brown, Bischof and Karl for Stanišić, Upamecano, Davies, Pavlović and Saibari.

Viking subs

Belko, Auklend, Bassey, Daland, H. Haugen, Vevatne, Hansen, Kvia-Egeskog, Moi, Cosic, Fuglestad, Postema

Bayern subs

Neuer, Podar-Stiube, Ulreich, Boey, Davies, Ito, Stanišić, Upamecano, Pavlović, Sapoko Ndiaye, Gnabry, Saibari

Bayern's incredible goalscoring feat

Bayern have scored four goals or more goals in five of their last seven UCL games. That includes the knockout stages of last season's competition and their stunning 5-4 defeat to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Viking's struggles against German opposition

Having lost to Stuttgart on Matchday 1, Viking are now winless in their last seven against German opposition, drawing two and losing five.

Watch: Vincent Kompany and Jonathan Tah preview Viking test

Vincent Kompany on Jonas Urbig

“We're going according to plan. He's got the minutes we wanted to give him for his development. He played in the cup final, in several Champions League games. The fact he's now also playing for Germany is a result of that development. And every minute is good for his development.”

Jonathan Tah on Viking's qualities

“We know they’ll come into this one full of confidence. They’ve won the league, they’re top of the table, level on points with Bodø/Glimt. They’re extremely strong on set-pieces and have several good takers. They won’t hide, even if they’re playing against Bayern. We also saw that they never sat deep against Stuttgart — that’s not their way of playing football. And we don’t expect them to do that tomorrow either.”

Vincent Kompany on facing Viking

“This is the Champions League. Every game is a challenge. When we come here and say we want to keep being ourselves – that’s also a question of mentality. For Viking, this is a very special match. But I don’t want anyone to get the feeling that it’s any less important for us. Whatever the game brings, we have to go into it with the mindset that anything can happen and that we are prepared for everything.”

Viking captain Zlatko Tripić on Bayern's qualities

"They have a lot of attacking power, perhaps the best in the world, but, at the same time, there will be opportunities for us to find space when they send players forward. We must try to take advantage of that."

Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim on facing Bayern

"Viking have historically played big games against Barcelona and Chelsea, but tomorrow's game is even bigger. We want to enjoy the challenge."

Saibari to start?

Having scored on both his last two Bundesliga appearances, summer signing Ismael Saibari could be set for his first Champions League start in Bayern colours on Tuesday night. The Morocco international is likely to fill the void left by Jamal Musiala, who suffered a thigh injury while on international duty.

'On another day, we score five or six'

"Our mistakes were punished," superstar striker Harry Kane said afterwards. "On another day, we win this game and score five or six goals. We hit the post and scored many offside goals. We were much better in the second half, but that's football. We take the point and move on."

Familiar faces

Captain Zlatko Tripić, who scored Viking's goal in Stuttgart, played for Greuther Fürth between 2015 and 2017 (making 36 Bundesliga 2 appearances), at the same time as Viking striker Veton Berisha (making 59 Bundesliga 2 appearances, scoring 11 goals).

It's been a while

Bayern have not lost in nine previous encounters against Norwegian clubs in European competitions. Their last trip to Norway came all the way back in November 2000, in a 1-1 draw at Rosenborg. Viking's defeat in Stuttgart was their 12th encounter with a German club, and they took wins against both Cologne and Lokomotiv Leipzig (then of East Germany) in the UEFA Cup despite losing both ties on aggregate.

Viking battle in Stuttgart before defeat

An Ermedin Demirović hat-trick saw Viking return home from Germany empty-handed on their UEFA Champions League debut last month. They showed some of the grit that saw them through a qualification play-off against Dinamo Zagreb in August though, briefly levelling at 1-1.

Part two of Norwegian double

After opening the new UEFA Champions League phase with a 5-0 win over Norwegian runners-up Bodø/Glimt, Bayern travel to Norway to face the champions. The irrepressible Michael Olise scored twice and provided an assist in the win in Munich.
