Kick-off!

We're moments away

The teams have emerged from the tunnel, the anthem has been played and the pre-match pictures have been taken. We're almost ready to go...

Kovač reveals

Speaking to DAZN, Dortmund's head coach explained the reasoning behind some of his personnel decisions. "I do believe that smaller players cope somewhat better on artificial turf," he stated.

Kick-off approaching

Both teams are out warming up, and we're 20 minutes away from a ball being kicked at the Aspmyra Stadium in Bodø.

Plentiful options

Should he need it, Kovač has a strong bench at his disposal with Ryerson, Nmecha, Chukwuemeka, Nwaneri, Sabitzer and Guirassy named among the substitutes. Also on the bench is USA's Albert who, at 17 years, four months, and eight days old, became the youngest player to ever score for the US National Team in the recent international break.

More on that Bodø/Glimt team

The hosts make two changes to the team that beat Kristiansund 3-1 at the weekend with Aleesami replacing Bjørtuft in defence, while Helmersen comes in for Brynhildsen in attack.

More on that Dortmund team

Kovač has made five changes to the team that drew 2-2 against Werder Bremen at the weekend. Notably, Bensebaini replaces Schlotterbeck in defence, while Silva starts ahead of Guirassy in an attack complemented by Karetsas and Inácio, who return to the starting XI in place of Nwaneri and Sabitzer. In midfield, Veerman is also called upon, with Nmecha on the bench.

Nippy in Norway

Kovač's players were wrapped up warm in their final training session before Wednesday's clash.

Niko Kovač on facing Bodø/Glimt

“There have been some big-name teams here, and many have seen how difficult it is to play here. We know it’s going to be a really intense game for us tomorrow. But we’re feeling confident and believe we have what it takes to win the game. Nothing is easy, though—especially not in the Champions League.”

Julian Ryerson on Bodø/Glimt's style

"They're very dangerous. They have their style of play, their patterns and they do that really well. They are a team that has been playing under the same coach for many years and always play a certain way, but very well."

Andreas Helmersen, Bodø/Glimt striker, on facing Dortmund

"We learned quite a lot [from the MD1 defeat to Bayern]. Dortmund is not an easy opponent either. The fact that we face three strong teams at the start gives us an early reference of what to expect. There is no easy match in the Champions League, so there are more experiences to take with us."

Kjetil Knutsen on facing Dortmund

"It will be incredibly fun. We have met them before [on Matchday 6 last season], and they were a little better than us, but we managed to take a point with us. We had some periods that were very good. It will be exciting to see if we can be even more competitive than we were in that match now that we are at home."

Schlotterbeck misses out

Although Chukwuemeka, Ryerson and Mane are all fit to travel, one man who won't be heading to Norway for this match is Nico Schlotterbeck. The Germany international has been left at home as a precaution after suffering recent ankle injuries.

'We can achieve a lot more'

Kovač on his contract extension: "We've started a clear development and laid important foundations for the future. We want to build on that. We have a clear idea of how we want to play and what it takes to achieve our goals. We see great potential and firmly believe we can achieve a lot more with great conviction and determination."

Kovač commits to 2029

Dortmund announced on Tuesday morning that Niko Kovač has extended his contract with the club until June 2029. Kovač has overseen 53 Bundesliga games at BVB, earning an average of 2.15 points per match - the best return in the club's history.

Chukwuemeka & Ryerson to return?

Filippo Mane made his comeback from a thigh injury in an U23 match on Saturday but remains short of match practice. Emre Can, Giannis Konstantelias (both knee) and Justin Lerma (muscular) are also ruled out, but Carney Chukwuemeka and Julian Ryerson (pictured) could be involved after missing the Bremen game with minor issues.

'We're going to make sure it doesn't happen again'

"We dropped two unnecessary points because we had the game under control," defender Waldemar Anton told club media. "We didn't defend well after going 2-0 up, we have to be honest with ourselves. We're going to work hard to make sure that doesn't happen again."

Familiar face(s)

Bodø/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge made 36 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt over two spells, also helping them lift the 2022 UEFA Europa League, before returning to the club of his youth in January 2025. Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface spent four seasons at Bodø/Glimt between 2020 and 2024, spending the latter two years as a team-mate of Hamburg forward Albert Grønbæk.

Recent history

The since-departed Julian Brandt hit a brace as Dortmund drew 2-2 at home to Bodø/Glimt last December in last season's UEFA Champions League. The Norwegians went further into the competition, being knocked out by Sporting in the last 16, while Dortmund exited at the hands of Atalanta in the play-off round.

Bodø hoping for better against second set of Klassiker opponents

Borussia Dortmund might not be the team Bodø/Glimt wanted to face after opening the competition with a 5-0 defeat at Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, but they will hope to do better with their strong home record.

Fine start

Borussia Dortmund got the league phase off to a winning start with Serhou Guirassy netting a late brace in an entertaining 3-2 win at home to Villarreal.
