Xavi Simons granted permission to discuss future away from RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig have confirmed that Xavi Simons has been allowed to miss training to hold contract negotiations with another club over a possible exit from the club.
Ahead of Ole Werner’s home managerial debut on Saturday when Leipzig host Heidenheim, the Dutch playmaker has been listed as unavailable for selection on the club’s website due to his holding transfer negotiations with an unnamed club.
Werner addressed Xavi’s absence in the pre-match press conference, saying: “In the end, we’ll see where the road takes us.”
As a result, Christoph Baumgartner is expected to start in place of Xavi, who was in the starting line-up in Leipzig’s season opener away to Bayern.
