How was his 2025/26 season?
It’s been a remarkable breakout campaign for Vušković, who seriously impressed after joining Hamburg on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. The ever-present central defender scooped four Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards as HSV finished 13th on their return to the top tier.

What he brings to the national team
Vušković is a commanding, modern defender, but also a nuisance in the final third. He scored six times in the Bundesliga in 2025/26 - including the 2025 Goal of the Year winner - and also has one goal to show for his first four senior internationals.

What his coaches say
“He has exceptional talent but what impresses me even more than his good performances on the pitch is his work ethic. If I’m in the office very, very early in the morning, he’s there just before or after me, working out in the gym. What I really like is his self-criticism.” – Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin
“He is a huge talent who is excellent in the Bundesliga, and that’s why he got a chance with the senior national team. With him, Croatia have a centre-back for the next 10-15 years.” – Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić
