How was his 2025/26 season?

The likes of Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho have made their way to Germany in search of regular minutes in recent years and have had huge success. Quansah sought to do the same last summer by leaving Liverpool, and he hasn’t looked back. The Englishman enjoyed a real breakout season at Leverkusen, nailing down his place in the club’s back three. He appeared in 28 of his club's 34 Bundesliga matches, scoring four times - including a goal on his Bundesliga debut in the 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim.

What he brings to the national team

With his ability to step out of defence with the ball and his talent for winning crunching challenges, Quansah offers England a quality central defensive option. However, England boss Thomas Tuchel used him at right-back on his senior international debut in November 2025.

What his coaches say

“I have a lot of trust in Jarell. I see his talent, but I see the package. He is tall, he is fast, he is strong in build-up. He is strong in the air. He's slighty ahead [of Trent Alexander-Arnold].” - Tuchel

“He's an intelligent defender and a real presence. He's really developed a lot and is an important player for us.” - Leverkusen head coach Kasper Hjulmand
