Di Salvo's Germany beat the likes of Italy and Spain, before losing the Euro U21 final to holders England 3-2 after extra-time. The former striker's been in charge since September 2021, overseeing an impressive 25 wins, six draws and six defeats, with a points-per-game average of 2.19.
Di Salvo previously worked as assistant coach of the Germany U21s and U19s, as well as the Bayern Munich U17s. He won the Bundesliga title and UEFA Champions League as a Bayern player in 2000/01, but made just eight competitive appearances in his only season with the record champions.
The German of Italian descent also turned out for hometown club Paderborn, Hansa Rostock and 1860 Munich, featuring in 183 games across Germany's top two divisions, before retiring through injury following a spell in Austria with Kapfenberg.
