Borussia Dortmund sign midfielder Joey Veerman
Borussia Dortmund have secured the services of Dutch international Joey Veerman, adding further quality to their midfield ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.
The attack-minded playmaker, who becomes the latest arrival at Signal Iduna Park after Konstantinos Karetsas and Giannis Konstantelias, has joined from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven on a five-year contract through to June 2031.
"Joey is a truly outstanding player who possesses a great deal of creativity, technical skill, and vision," expressed Dortmund sporting director Ole Book.
"He has shown at PSV and with the Dutch national team that he can consistently perform at the highest level. We’re excited that he’ll be bringing his talents to our team in the future."
A senior Netherlands international (16 caps, one goal), the 27-year-old rose to prominence at Dutch outfits Volendam and Heerenveen, where his passing range and ability to chip in with crucial goals from midfield piqued the interest of PSV, for whom he joined midway through the 2021/22 term.
During his time in Eindhoven, Veerman won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups, played in the UEFA Champions League, scored his first and thus far only international goal - against Germany - and earned a spot in the Netherlands' squad for UEFA Euro 2024.
"Borussia Dortmund is a major club in Europe, and I’m proud to now be a part of it," said the Dutchman, who will wear the No.25 shirt number for the Ruhr club. "I’m thrilled to be here and look forward to celebrating successes together with BVB."
Niko Kovač's team kick off the new season by hosting Bayern Munich in the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on 22 August, before beginning the Bundesliga campaign against Hamburg - likewise at home - the following week on 29 August.
