Werder Bremen sign Isaac Schmidt on season-long loan from Leeds United
Werder Bremen have confirmed the signing of Isaac Schmidt on a season-long loan from Leeds United.
"I’m happy to be here and excited about the time ahead with Werder," Schmidt said in a statement on the club's website. "I’m convinced that we can achieve our goals together."
After joining Leeds from St. Gallen in his Swiss homeland in the summer of 2024, Schmidt made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire-based outfit, who earned promotion back to the English Premier League last season. He also has three senior caps for his country.
"Isaac is tactically well-trained, brings good pace and strong dynamism," said Bremen head coach Horst Steffen. "He's fully involved in training and will be a great asset to our team."
The defender is Bremen's fifth signing this summer after Samuel Mbangula, fellow Leeds loanee Maximilian Wöber, Karl Hein and Yukinari Sugawara.
Schmidt could make his debut against Leverkusen on Matchday 2 of the Bundesliga this Saturday.
