More on that Bayern team

Vincent Kompany opts to include a raft of youngsters, many of whom featured for Bayern's reserve team in the regional leagues last season - including highly-rated 19-year-old attacking midfielder Guido Della Rovere (pictured) and 16-year-old Germany youth international striker Bastian Assomo.

Head-to-head record

Despite both clubs' long histories, there has only been one prior competitive meeting between them - and it came in the very recent past. Last term, the sides met in a first-round DFB Cup five-goal thriller, with Bayern claiming a 3-2 victory thanks to a Harry Kane brace and a Michael Olise strike, which set them on the path to cup glory.

Landmark day for Wiesbaden

The friendly encounter between these sides marks Wehen Wiesbaden's 100th anniversary as a club.

A glimpse of what's to come?

As previously mentioned, midfielder Tom Bischof has been training all week and is expected to feature against Wiesbaden. Further lending significance to this appearance, however, is the fact that the 21-year-old inherited the No.8 jersey left vacant by the departing Leon Goretzka and - after an impressive debut campaign in 2025/26 - is expected to play an even bigger role in the upcoming season.

Who are Wiesbaden?

Located approximately 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Frankfurt in the west of Germany, Wiesbaden finished eighth in the country's third division last season, some 17 points off the promotion play-off spot. Head coach Daniel Scherning has been in charge since November 2025.

Which Bayern stars could feature?

A total of 17 first-team members are absent due to extended holiday or injury recovery - with the likes of Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry falling into the latter category. However, Tom Bischof (pictured) and Arijon Ibrahimović have been training all week and are likely to appear, alongside a mixture of youth and reserve players.

Where will the match be played?

The match will take place in Wiesbaden on Saturday 25 July at 3.30pm CEST. It forms part of the third-division club's 100th anniversary celebrations .

Watch: Bayern return to training after the summer break

Shaking off the cobwebs

Bayern began pre-season training on Monday 20 July, albeit with a considerably reduced first-team pool. Head coach Vincent Kompany oversaw things at the club's Säbener Straße training complex, but the majority of his stars are still on holiday following their exertions at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
