Which of these top sprinters are in your fantasy team?

1) Oliver Burke (Union Berlin) - 22.38 mph (36.01 km/h)

This season, there's been no catching Burke. The Scot has so far been the only player to have broken the 36 km/h barrier and it's by no means a one-off. The 28-year-old loves to put his speed to use, with Die Eisernen's Scottish striker recording 37 sprints on average every 90 minutes - the most league-wide.

However, even Burke still has some way to go to match the top speeds of previous seasons. The Bundesliga speed record, set back in March by Eintracht Frankfurt's Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, stands at 23.09 mph (37.16 km/h). Burke's 22.38 mph sprint doesn’t even crack the all-time top 10 since data tracking began in the 2019/20 season. Even Burke himself reached a top speed of 22.82 mph (36.72 km/h) last season - so there’s clearly more to come!

=2) Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig) – 22.36 mph (35.98 km/h)

Where Burke uses raw power to reach his top speed, Diomande is a more lithe type of sprinter. With his near-instantaneous acceleration, Leipzig's Ivorian starlet has been a nightmare for defenders this season, also leading the league with 53 attempted dribbles, successfully completing an outstanding 64 per cent of them.

Fleet-footed and fearless in possession, Diomande has firmly established himself as a genuine game changer this season.

=2) Bazoumana Touré (Hoffenheim) – 22.36 mph (35.98 km/h)

Neck-and-neck with Leipzig’s deft dribbler is none other than Hoffenheim’s speed machine, Touré. He may be matched by his compatriot for top speed, but with a total of 361 sprints, he currently leads the way for most sprints recorded in the Bundesliga.

It's a dream scenario for Ivory Coast coach Emerse Faé, as both Diomande and Touré are representing the Elephants in the current instalment of the Africa Cup of Nations.

4) Justin Njinmah (Werder Bremen) – 22.3 mph (35.89 km/h)

Just outside the top three comes the Bundesliga’s fastest German. Njinmah clocked a personal top speed of 22.3 mph (35.89 km/h) on Matchday 9 in Werder Bremen’s 1–1 draw away at Mainz. His constant, high-octane energy proved vital in controlling the contest and ultimately helped Bremen snatch a late point.

5) Adam Daghim (Wolfsburg) – 22.24 mph (35.79 km/h)

Rounding out the top five is a Bundesliga newcomer. Daghim made an immediate impact at Wolfsburg, injecting fresh pace into the Wolves' attack with a top speed of 22.24 mph (35.79 km/h).

Despite a strong start to life at the Volkswagen Arena, Daghim suffered an injury setback that ruled him out for four matches, only making his comeback off the bench in the final 10 minutes on Matchday 15 after a back issue. Nevertheless, the forward has consistently delivered energetic performances when fit, managing to cover on average an impressive 12.9 kilometres per 90 whilst undertaking 31 sprints per game.
