Paxten Aaronson leaves Eintracht for Colorado Rapids
USA international Paxten Aaronson has joined Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids on a permanent deal from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Aaronson, 21, joined the Eagles from Philadelphia Union in January 2023, making his first-team debut in a 2-0 defeat at Union Berlin in March that year. He went on to make 22 appearances in his first 12 months in Frankfurt before spending the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem.
The attacking midfielder signed a long-term contract extension with Eintracht on his return, but was soon back in the Netherlands, joining Utrecht on loan for the 2024/25 season. He enjoyed a successful campaign with the Dutch outfit, registering nine goals and six assists in 37 appearances.
Aaronson scored his first and only goal for Eintracht in Sunday’s 5-0 DFB Cup first-round win over FV Engers, completing the scoring with a close-range finish in second-half stoppage time.
The New Jersey native has also won four caps for the senior US national team since making his debut in January 2023, and was part of the side that reached the quarter-finals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
“Paxten showed his potential in pre-season and in his appearances for us,” said Eintracht sporting director Timmo Hardung. “His loan spells in the Netherlands helped him develop further.
“Ahead of the 2026 World Cup in his home country, he has informed us of his desire to be given more playing time. We wish Paxten all the best for the future.”
