Omar Richards was handed a first Bundesliga start in Matchday 9's 4-0 win over Hoffenheim and the English left-back says he is living the dream at Bayern Munich.

Having made his German top-flight debut on week five's 7-0 victory against Bochum and featured from the bench in Matchday 8's destruction of Bayer Leverkusen, Richards earned a first league start for the club in Saturday's win over Hoffenheim.

Just days after being handed a first UEFA Champions League appearance in the final five minutes of Bayern's 4-0 win at Benfica, Richards was rewarded with his Bundesliga bow.

A packed Allianz Arena provided the perfect backdrop to end a stunning week for the 23-year-old.

Richards told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to have got the chance in the starting eleven today and that the coaches believed in me. I'm happy with my performance and with my team. The most important thing is that we got the home win today.

"It's a bit of a goosebump feeling. You dream of things like this as a kid, and right now I just feel like I'm living out my dreams, the Champions League game the other night, and now getting my first start for Bayern.

"It's been an amazing time for me at the club, and really I just feel the support from the fans in the stadium, it's amazing. I enjoyed every minute today."

Richards joined Bayern from English second division side Reading in July and debuted in the 12-0 rout of Bremer SV in the first round of the DFB Cup, supplying an assist.

He had to wait until Matchday 5 before making his Bundesliga debut as a half-time substitute in the win over Bochum, and a cameo followed on Matchday 8 against Bayer Leverkusen before he made his first start at the weekend, with French World Cup winner Lucas Hernandez moving across into the centre of the defence.
