Niklas Süle: "Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga"

Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle has laid down the gauntlet to Borussia Dortmund ahead of the Bundesliga restart, saying he and his team-mates are convinced they will win the Bundesliga again this season.

Süle met the media after training in Doha on Tuesday, and he was full of fighting talk as the Bundesliga restart fast approaches, with Bayern given an immediate opportunity to reduce the arrears at the top of the table to three points at the home of his former club Hoffenheim.

"There is not one of us in the team who does not believe [we will win the league]," he said. "Six points is not the end of the world. The important thing is we win our games, preferably all 17 of them, and then Dortmund will drop a few points along the way. I believe we will win the Bundesliga."

'Hoffenheim games always special'

Süle and Bayern are warming up for the second half of the season in Qatar with some intense, but enjoyable training sessions aimed at getting them into shape ahead of five key months in which they will be aiming to win the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League.

The effort should be worth it, though.

"There are worse things in life than having to train with these lads here in Doha," said Süle with a grin. "The work we do here will help us in the second half of the season."

That starts on January 18, when Bayern travel to Sinsheim to get the ball rolling on Bundesliga football in 2019.

"Going back is always emotional and extra special for me," said Süle, who came through the youth ranks at Hoffenheim and made his Bundesliga debut for the club before joining Bayern in summer 2017. "I'll still feel that way if I've played for Bayern for 10 years. But I'm going there to win."
