VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has doubled down on the club’s stance regarding the future of Germany striker Nick Woltemade.

Woltemade, 23, enjoyed a stunning debut campaign at Stuttgart, scoring 12 Bundesliga goals and a further five in as many games as Die Schwaben won the DFB Cup.

After being rewarded for his superb performances with his first senior Germany caps at the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League Final Four tournament, the former Werder Bremen forward helped propel his country's U21s into the final of Euro 2025, with a tournament-leading six goals in five games, as well as three assists.

It’s form that has attracted the attention of leading clubs around Europe, with Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl confirming the Bundesliga champions’ interest in the striker. However, Wohlgemuth has once again reaffirmed Stuttgart’s position.

“We agreed a long-term deal with Nick a year and a half ago. That still stands. So, we’re assuming Nick will play for us next season and show his qualities,” said VfB’s sporting director.

“A few more statements are thrown around in the summer lull than at other times, but that doesn't change the facts.

“The question isn’t unexpected. I understand the media interest when Bayern are interested in a senior Germany international. That’s obviously huge. Lots of things are said, which is part of it all,” he added of the Munich club’s public pursuit.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has also made similar comments about his striker.

“I presume he’ll be here next year. He’s on holiday now and then will join our training camp. Obviously he’s a central component for us, both as a player and a person. That’s why he’s firmly part of my plans. He’ll take on an important role for us,” the cup-winning tactician said.

Woltemade, who joined Stuttgart from boyhood club Bremen on a free transfer last summer, has a contract with the three-time Bundesliga champions until 30 June 2028. They kick off the new season at home to Bayern in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on 16 August.
