Eintracht Frankfurt hire Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's cousin as assistant coach
Pablo Remon Arteta, cousin of Arsenal coach Mikel, is part of a new coaching team led by Albert Riera hoping to rejuvenate Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arteta provides a big name in the Frankfurt dugout due to his family connection to the Arsenal boss. Riera himself is also a familiar name to those who followed his fortunes as a player at Manchester City and Liverpool.
Arteta has been an assistant to the former Spain international wideman in all four of his coaching positions prior to his move to the Bundesliga. The duo won the Slovenian league title and two domestic cups during spells at Celje and Olimpija Ljubljana, and also worked together at Bordeaux of France.
Arteta and Riera were joined by Lorenzo Dolcetti and Jan Fießer as Frankfurt's new coaching team put the players through their paces for the first time on Monday. Riera has promised to "attack and force mistakes" with his new side, who currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga.
Frankfurt will be hoping to claim crucial points for their European qualification prospects in their first match under the new coaching team at Union Berlin on Friday.
With 14 matches of the Bundesliga season remaining, a positive start might even lift hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League again - and potentially facing the side coached by Arteta's famous relative next season.
