Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham receives first senior England call-up

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham has been called up to the senior England squad for the first time.

Bellingham, who has represented the Three Lions at every youth level from the U15s to the U21s, has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

The midfielder has started six of Dortmund’s eight Bundesliga games so far this season, helping Niko Kovač’s side pick up five wins and three draws - leaving them level with champions Bayern Munich at the top of the standings.

Speaking to the English FA website, Tuchel said: “[U21 coach] Lee Carsley has been talking highly about Jobe for weeks and months. If there is a spot, a possibility to join and making an impression in the first team [then he deserves a place].

“He’s had some good matches and he’s on a good run of form with Dortmund, so he deserves to be with us.”

Bellingham, the brother of former Dortmund and current Real Madrid and Three Lions star Jude Bellingham, was made captain of England’s U21 side in September last year, helping the Young Lions qualify for the European U21 Championship in 2027.

The Bellingham brothers could become the first siblings to play for together for England’s senior team since former defenders Gary and Phil Neville in 2007.
