What was happening the last time Hamburg beat Bayern Munich?
As they prepare for their Matchday 20 clash against Bayern Munich, Hamburg will look to their last victory over the Bavarians 16 years ago as inspiration. But what else was happening in the world in 2009? Let's take a trip down memory lane...
Bruno Labbadia's Hamburg were renowned for their intensive playing style, and were sitting pretty at the top of the Bundesliga ahead of their Matchday 7 meeting with Louis van Gaal's Bayern, who were down in seventh place.
An unbeaten start to the 2009/10 season was ideal preparation for the north German outfit, who had won four and drawn six of their first seven games. They had already found the net 17 times - more than any other team in the division - and conceded only seven.
Van Gaal's charges were about to discover at first hand just how tough a side Hamburg were. The Dutch tactician rested both Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez, opting instead to start a young Thomas Müller and Ivica Olić in attack.
By the end of the game, Van Gaal had Gomez, Klose, Müller, Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben all on the pitch together - but none of them could find a way past Frank Rost in the HSV goal.
Croatia international Mladen Petrić delivered the sucker-punch with 18 minutes remaining, nodding home a cross from former Bayern hero Zé Roberto to extend Hamburg's unbeaten run against the Bavarians to six matches.

So what else was going on in the world at the time?
- Barack Obama had been elected 44th president of the United States of America a year earlier
- Angela Merkel was nearly four years into her reign as German Chancellor
- Michael Jackson, who had passed away in June 2009, was the top-selling music artist on the planet
- 7 March: Neymar made his professional debut for Santos
- 5 July: Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick at Wimbledon to claim a record 15th Grand Slam title
- 28 August: Iconic British rock band Oasis split up
- Wolfsburg striker Edin Džeko, now of Schalke, finished the 2009/10 season as top scorer on 22 goals
If the teams' most recent encounter is anything to go by - a 5-0 victory for Bayern back on Matchday 3 - it will be a difficult task for Hamburg to contain Vincent Kompany's juggernaut this weekend.

But Hamburg have looked much more solid defensively of late, having kept back-to-back clean sheets against Borussia Mönchengladbach and city rivals St. Pauli.
Can they make it three consecutive shut-outs against the league leaders on Matchday 20?
