What music are the stars of the Bundesliga listening to?
Ever wondered what songs players listen to get them in the mood for a Bundesliga matchday? Well wonder no more, as bundesliga.com has insider knowledge of your favourite players’ most beloved tracks…
There’s a lot of love for rap throughout the league, especially from Bayer Leverkusen’s new recruit Malik Tillman, who can’t seem to get enough of Gunna and Burna Boy’s ‘wgft’.
Burna Boy’s Afrofusion music also speaks to Tillman’s captain, Robert Andrich, who currently has his song ‘Love’ on repeat. Staying on the African continent briefly, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and RB Leipzig’s Johan Bakayoko can’t stop hitting play on Chella’s ‘My Darling’ and Jungeli’s ‘Briller’.
Nico Schlotterbeck prepares to stop the likes of Undav and Leweling by tuning into ‘Dieser Weg’ by Xavier Naidoo, while his Borussia Dortmund colleague Karim Adeyemi opts for ‘Du bist mein’ by Kosovan-Swiss rapper Loredana. This will come as no suprise to those that know Adeyemi and Loredana are, in fact, married.
Both St. Pauli’s Eric Smith and Mainz’s Silvan Widmer are also on the same wavelength when it comes to music, with both picking Drake’s ‘Nokia’ as their favourite song. Jesper Lindström is another member of the Drake fan club, picking the Canadian star's ‘Die Trying’ as his go-to track.
World Cup winner Mario Götze’s favourite sounds can also be found in Canada’s R&B scene, with ‘Patron’ by Ovi Wood topping the German maestro’s charts.
Jumping over to South America now, where you’ll find Werkself midfielder Exequiel Palacios enjoying some Reggaeton vibes courtesy of Ovy on the Drums' ‘BECE’, and Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo slipping into game mode with Bad Bunny and his ‘DTmf’ tune.
Staying closer to home with some German rap are VfB Stuttgart duo Deniz Undav and Jamie Leweling. Hoodblaq’s ‘Blaq on blaq’ is the standout of Undav’s playlist, while wing wizard Leweling listens to Luciano’s ‘Mios mit Bars’ before terrorising Bundesliga defences.
The North American love doesn’t stop there, with the league’s top scorer Harry Kane getting himself in the goalscoring groove with Justin Bieber’s ‘Daisies’, while Cologne’s Eric Martel can’t resist a bit of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Summer Love’. BVB’s Jobe Bellingham is in a similar boat, with Kenny Lattimore’s ‘Can't get enough’ his favourite.
Symbolic of his energtic playing style, Leipzig’s David Raum has gone down the electronic/dance route with Adam Port’s ‘Positions’ his top tune, but the Germany internationals aren’t the only ones whose favourite songs come from their homeland, with Patrik Schick leaning towards ‘PTSD’ by Ektor.
Notable music buff Jackson Irvine appears to be the rock-lover in the group, the Aussie midfielder going with Never Enough by Baltimore's Turnstile as his top pick. Irvine started playing guitar by the age of four, played in several different bands growing up and has previously described football and music as his two great passions. Our only surprise is that he didn't pick something by AC/DC.
