"I saw it in my mind": Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha on his outrageous overhead kick against Paderborn
Felix Nmecha bagged a second-half brace as Borussia Dortmund took all three points at home to Paderborn, with his second and Dortmund's third of the game being an early contender for goal of the season.
Having made it 2-0 to BVB with 10 minutes to play against the newly-promoted outfit, Nmecha looked to have wrapped up the three points for his side.
However, he wasn't done yet. In the 89th minute, a Marcel Sabitzer cross from the right found him at the far post, where he unleashed an acrobatic overhead-kick into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
Those were his first two goals of the season and the perfect response to starting on the bench.
However, while the rest of the stadium was in disbelief at his stunning goal, Nmecha was simply enjoying the product of his brilliance - a moment he says he knew was coming as soon as he saw Sabitzer's cross drift toward him.
"I saw it in my mind," the 25-year-old said after the game. "I saw it working – and it did, which I’m very happy about. I still need to watch it back but I think it’ll be nice to look at.”
Next up for Nmecha and Dortmund is a trip to VfB Stuttgart, who fell to a 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim on Matchday 3.
