Bundesliga celebrates Germany's European Championship Basketball victory
As Germany defeated Turkey in a sensational EuroBasket final to become European Champions, the Bundesliga's finest congratulated their basketball counterparts on their success.
Germany's basketballers produced a fantastic performance to defeat Turkey, overcoming several changes in leadership to do so. It is not the team's first taste of glory on the international stage, either, with this triumph following on from their 2023 FIBA World Championship win.
Representatives from Germany's football community were quick to share their delight. Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and Bayern Munich all commented, with BVB posting via their official Instagram account: "Was für eine Mannschaft!" ("What a team!").
"Congratulations to the national German Basketball team, as well as all the coaches, on their European Championship victory," said Bayern president Herbert Hainer. "We are especially happy for Bayern players Andi Obst, Johannes Voigtmann, Leon Kratzer, Oscar da Silva and Justus Hollatz."
A well-known basketball fan, Bayern's Jamal Musiala was present at the final and shared an Instagram story saying, "Congratulations! What a team!". Fellow Germany international David Raum also commented, showing his support in a video message to the team before the match. Ex-Freiburg head coach Christian Streich and former Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler also shared encouragement in the clip.
Of course, Thomas Müller could not ignore his compatriots' success. "World Champions, European Champions - let's go!" the Vancouver Whitecaps man said.
