"I am very happy here": Bayern Munich want to extend Dayot Upamecano's contract
Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano, whose current contract at the club runs out in the summer of 2026, are both eager to prolong the French centre-back's stay at the club.
"It is definitely an objective for us to extend [Upamecano's contract]," Bayern sporting director Eberl said following the Bundesliga team's 4-0 friendly victory over Tottenham.
Upamecano, added, "I am very happy here. There will now be talks between Max, Christoph [Freund, the Bayern sporting director] and my agent. Let's see what happens."
Upamecano joined Bayern in 2021 from RB Leipzig and has since made 152 appearances for the record champions, scoring six goals. He has won three Bundesliga titles during that time.
Bayern will kick off their season against VfB Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday 16 August (kick-off: 8.30pm CEST) at the MHPArena.
