
Bundesliga Legend Jiayi Shao named China head coach
The Chinese Football Association has appointed Jiayi Shao as the new head coach of China’s national men’s team, marking a new milestone in the coaching chapter of the iconic ex-international midfielder and Bundesliga Legend.
Shao enjoyed great success throughout his professional career in Germany. Following his impressive displays during China’s successful run towards a maiden FIFA World Cup appearance in 2002, he moved to Germany and went on to play 168 matches across the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 with 1860 Munich, Energie Cottbus and Duisburg.
Shao scored 24 goals to become one of the most successful Chinese players in German professional football to date.
Shao gained coaching experience with China’s U19 and U20 teams and was most recently in charge of Qingdao West Coast in the Chinese Super League.
