Bayern Munich's Tom Bischof set for injury comeback against Heidenheim
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany made wholesale changes to his side on Bundesliga Matchday 31 against Mainz last week, and is expected to do so again on Saturday for the visit of Heidenheim, with Tom Bischof set to return after injury.
Bischof, 20, has been absent for around two weeks with a calf muscle tear but rejoined Bayern's first-team training on Thursday and is in line to feature in some capacity against Heidenheim. “I hope that Tom will be back tomorrow,” Kompany said at Friday’s pre-match press conference.
The coach also confirmed that the game comes too soon for Lennart Karl, who is nearing a comeback of his own after a thigh muscle tear: “Maybe [he’ll be back] against PSG, but we're being cautious with his situation.” Like Bischof, Karl also completed the full training sessions on Thursday and Friday.
Kompany has recently switched between Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig in goal, and the rotation policy will continue this weekend, with the 39-year-old confirming that the latter will begin against Heidenheim.
That means Neuer is expected to be between the posts for the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG on Wednesday.
